Why Socialism By Albert Einstein

Guess what, they (the rulers) said Einstein was so smart that an ordinary person could not understand him. Here is an article written in 1949, read it and you will see why they did not want anyone to listen to what he was saying (other than E=mc2).

Is it advisable for one who is not an expert on economic and social issues to express views on the subject of socialism? I believe for a number of reasons that it is.

Let us first consider the question from the point of view of scientific knowledge. It might appear that there are no essential methodological differences between astronomy and economics: scientists in both fields attempt to discover laws of general acceptability for a circumscribed group of phenomena in order to make the interconnection of these phenomena as clearly understandable as possible. But in reality such methodological differences do exist. The discovery of general laws in the field of economics is made difficult by the circumstance that observed economic phenomena are often affected by many factors which are very hard to evaluate separately. In addition, the experience which has accumulated since the beginning of the so-called civilized period of human history has?as is well known?been largely influenced and limited by causes which are by no means exclusively economic in nature. For example, most of the major states of history owed their existence to conquest. The conquering peoples established themselves, legally and economically, as the privileged class of the conquered country. They seized for themselves a monopoly of the land ownership and appointed a priesthood from among their own ranks. The priests, in control of education, made the class division of society into a permanent institution and created a system of values by which the people were thenceforth, to a large extent unconsciously, guided in their social behavior.

lol Einstein was famous for saying that fate punished him for his dislike of authority by making him one. He also hated school & how the system was back then. I always thought he was a bit of an anarchist.

He also hated school & how the system was back then. I always thought he was a bit of an anarchist. --- "So many right-wing Christians, so few lions." - t-shirt I saw @ school</blockquote> <br> Well, anarchist seems to rather simply mean <b>human(e)</b>, and I didn't know that I was anarchist until very recently; hadn't bothered looking up the definition, before.  Also, thanks for stating that A.E. didn't like school, etc.; it's interesting and refreshing to learn that, given that I've had and have respect for Einstein and didn't much like academia; whilst, a little perhaps, or probably, more strongly than A.E.  My highschooling was done from the ages of 19 to 21, with plenty of, not necessarily welcome, but nonetheless real-world experiences inbetween.  For some reason, it had become a strict interest of mine to favour simply in society, than to conform to academia, which had become both boring and troublesome; except, for making friends.<br> <br> Yet, Einstein's brilliance is also of value for people who have achieved little in terms of academia.  I later continued and completed a D.E.C. and bachelor's degree, with additional courses on the side, afterwards.  However, and only f.e., my mother (nearly 80) has a 4th grade education, and father (over 90) has an 8th grade, with plenty of years of hard and very productive work experience, and they would, or rather do (based on past conversations), both understand and agree with Einstein; meanwhile, most rich business owners, shareholders, and upper management, have a difficult, or virtually impossible, time/ability of even cluing in to what Einstein said in this article.  And I also agree with Einstein's explanation for that/this reality; that it's surely due to how we're socialised, well or poorly, from childhood, and onward - far more than it could be due to inherited genes.  Culture is not inherited genetically, but acquired through socialisation.<br> <br> And all of this is, or is very close to, plain common sense, too; a quality which is, far too often, too pervasively lacking.<br> <br> It was obvious that Einstein had a serious social character when he cried after learning that the US government and military (ab)used the atomic theory in order to create Apocolyptic bombs; however, this article helps to illustrate his social interests/concerns ever more.<br> <br> The world is in dire need for many more scientists to develop the kind of perspectives, caring, empathy, Einstein had about the world and life.  Too many of them are mad, out of what seems to be rather pure madness, whilst many others act mad for what seems to be the sole sake of $$$ that mad business people offer for services rendered.<br> <br> EXCELLENT article by Einstein, and I'll help to make it known.  It definitely is seriously fitting with/for our present context; the present being considerably worse than in 1949.  People too often neglect serious warnings, and that's what he provided; among other people, like W.E.B. DuBois, aka "Du Bois".<br> <br> <b>Remembering W.E.B. Du Bois</b>, by Bill Fletcher, Jr., August 2003 <a href="http://www.monthlyreview.org/0803fletcher.htm"> http://www.monthlyreview.org/0803fletcher.htm</a><br> <br> <b>Dr. W.E.B. DuBois - Lecture in 23feb1953</b>, February 23, 1953 <a href="http://www.mindfully.org/Reform/WEB-DuBois-23feb1953.htm"> http://www.mindfully.org/Reform/WEB-DuBois-23feb1953.htm</a><br> <br> Can anyone seriously doubt that socialism is The Way for human society to be governed; no longer, imo.<br> <br>

Furthermore, not only will I help to make Einstein's article known to others, but also your website. Today is the first time that I've come across this site and, well, it certainly seems to be of worthwhile quality. Unfortunately, my situation has been, as of this coming August anyway, six years of beyond ordinary bankruptcy, due to increasing international trade and globalisation of commerce, wicked offshoring of jobs, etc., so am unable to afford making donations or paying for subscriptions; however, by helping to make your site known to others, this will hopefully help to generate some income for you people. And thanks for allowing the rest of us, who are poverty stricken, to nevertheless use your site.

Welcome to vive, I think that contributions are needed but never heard that it was required. I think the point of vive has always been about letting ALL people have a voice, not just the rich, after all the rich, have the only voice in main stream media! So here's to vive and thanks for your comments.

I would have to say that in a world of liberal tolerance this is the hypocritical truth...that is, if the t-shirt said "So Many Right-Wing Jews...So Few Ovens." I would expect a fist in the mouth...people only shock they do not rise above this and this was the tact of Hitler, 1v1 not him.

The rights of the few must be protected...
