The Road To Kandahar

Posted on Saturday, September 09 at 10:01 by 4Canada
Defence Minister Bill Graham had already confirmed Canada would be sending soldiers in Afghanistan south to Kandahar, the dangerous stronghold and birthplace of the Taliban. There, Canadians would run a Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT), a military formation combined with small components of diplomacy and development. The goal: to help reconstruct the country. But Hillier wanted more than that — and he'd already won backing from the government's foreign affairs establishment. Hillier wanted a battle group — at least 1,000 soldiers strong. Three hours later, Hillier had won the room. Canadian soldiers would move from the relative comfort of Kabul to the pointy edge of combat in the turbulent south. A cabinet committee would later refine the details, then the full cabinet would approve it. But that afternoon in the oval-shaped room will be remembered as the day the deal was done, the day that paved the Canadian road to Kandahar. In time, the decision would cost the lives of Canadian soldiers, billions of taxpayers' dollars and, possibly, our well-earned reputation for peacekeeping built during the last 50 years. The mission has stirred controversy — one that will endure, especially since Prime Minister Stephen Harper's government has extended that mission from 2007 until at least 2009. How long it will actually take to stabilize Afghanistan, nobody knows. But former Canadian ambassador to Kabul Chris Alexander has been quoted as saying: "Five generations." http://tinyurl.com/lrayx

If that were not true, then there'd be no one in Afghanistan right now. <br><br> I'm very happy to see that there's at least a few soldiers in this forum who know the difference between fighting for what's right and what's wrong. <br><br> Killing people so that an oil and gas pipeline can be secured for the exclusive benefit of a few very wealthy psychopaths is cold blooded murder. There's no excuse for believing in the Afghanistan "missions" (the mission keeps on changing from the original) because anyone with access to the internet can easily determine that the official reason for the initial "mission" was a lie (i.e., the 9/11 attacks were an inside job designed to kick off a series of wars). <br><br> There's no shame in admitting that you were fooled by 9/11. I was fooled in the same way as were millions across the world. However, at this point in time with all the information we now have available, there's just no more justification for still being fooled. There's no shame in saying "No more!", in fact you have no other moral choice but to say "No" to this war.

    >"All the information we have"?
    Boy there is a lot of info, opinions, conjecture, etc. but I think that the 9/11 LIHOPS or MIHOPS (whatever the case may be) are not just denying the "conspiracy theory" overtly but also covertly posing as conspiracy theorist themselves and posting rediculous claims on websites in order to distract/confuse otherwise curious people before they start asking too many questions.
    The problem as I see it is all the MISinformation (both pro & con) we have and all the MISSINGinformation. What really makes me question the official "conspiracy theory" is why the US Gov't has validated the "Deception Theory" by denying it, yet they continue to conseal critical pieces of evidence that would clear or convict them.

    I have been looking at the NATO website and I must say I am confused. On 31 July 2006 in a "Revised Operational Plan for NATO's expanding mission in Afghanistan" it seemed that "mission creep" was continuing. However, at that time it made it clear that the NATO mission (ISAF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) were two separate missions with two separate mandates. ISAF was to continue to focus on stabilisation and security and OEF to carry our it counter-terrorism mission.<br />
    <br />
    How is attacking the Taliban in their own territory focusing on "stabilisation and security?" It seems that it is designed to do the opposite. There is nothing in the NATO or OEF mandates that even mentions humanitarian aid or reconstruction. How can you explain the claims made below:<br />

    <blockquote>"Boy there is a lot of info, opinions, conjecture, etc."</blockquote> <br> Fair enough. You may be unaware of the high quality evidence that has been building up that contradicts the governments version of 9/11. <br><br> As you mention, the US government has refused to grant independent investigators access to any of the actual physical evidence (most of which was quickly destroyed on purpose). However, as with the science of Astronomy (for example), one can infer a great deal through observations alone. <br><br> Given the observational evidence at hand (verifiably authentic photographs and video showing the attacks and aftermath), in order for the governments 9/11 theory to hold true, the laws of physics as we know them would have to be violated - there's much more to it than that, but this fact alone invalidates the government's 9/11 theory. <br><br> If (as has been proven) the US government is lying about 9/11, then the Canadian government (previous and current) has also been lying about 9/11, and so has the MSM. It also means that the wars now underway used excuses that were fraudulent - making each of these wars clearly illegal from a war crimes perspective. <br><br> Anyone with an hour to spare should look at the evidence linked below so that you may decide for yourself what's true and what's not. Note that the government and the MSM continue to actively attempting to discredit and silence the truth using various methods of deception, cover up, and recently through acts of coercion. <br><br> <a href="http://www.scholarsfor911truth.org/WhyIndeedDidtheWorldTradeCenterBuildingsCompletelyCollapse.pdf">Updated Version: Why Indeed Did the WTC Buildings Collapse? I hear Condi is also visiting Peter in Pictou. I wonder if she will be visiting his dad's dogs?

    <p>Yes I have read much on many websites, including the links you provided, and <b>do not disagree</b> with the deception theory. We all see the MSM <b>telling</b> us how 9/11 happened (not questioning how it happened, the way journalists should) and discrediting the "<i>conspiracy theorist</i>" at every opportunity.</p><p> My point was merely that not only are they taking every opportunity to discredit us but they are probably "planting" nutcases to spew unbelievable and untrue garbage in order to make the "official story" more believable. Case-in-point, just yesterday on BBC Radio some guy phoned in and started to rant about government involvement in 9/11. Politely, the host asked him to elaborate and the guy immediately fell apart and sounded like an idiot. It's those kind of events that I was talking about.</p><p>---<br>Canada for Canadians
