U.S. 'intervention' Decried

Posted on Thursday, December 15 at 10:03 by Jesse
Mr. Martin said during a visit to a lumber yard he will continue to criticize the U.S. on softwood lumber and its environmental policies. "I am not going to be dictated to as to the subjects that I should raise," the Liberal leader said. Conservative leader Stephen Harper criticized Mr. Martin for "grandstanding" against the U.S. government. He chided Mr. Wilkins for intruding on the election, but also admonished him for taking Mr. Martin's comments so seriously. "I actually think the ambassador's intervention was inappropriate," Mr. Harper told reporters. >>> Paul Martin stepped up his feud with the United States yesterday, declaring he won't be pushed around and saying Canada's long-term sovereignty could hinge on his response to the diplomatic dispute. <<

    Martin went on to say:

"Pay no attention to the scandals and mismanagement or to the fact that we are purposefully prolonging the trade dispute to cynically score points with the electorate… Those Bastards had the audacity to complain that they were being used as political leverage to manipulate the rubes again… errr, the voters I meant to say… "

“Canada's long-term sovereignty” is at stake and we are the only ones that are going to protect it! (From this threat that we have manufactured in order to claim that we are defending you from it…) Vote for us or you are a traitor and bastard sell out! “

The pathetic thing is it is going to work... Again.

The quotes from Mr Harper as included in the article are also interesting; he seems to both agree and disagree with Mr Martin, depending on the quote. Makes me wonder if either of them are revealing their actual position.

Why Canadians are upset with the Americans is beyond me. We have the ugliest mouth of any nationality I have every heard and finally when someone has the balls to upbraid us we go all thin skin. Canadians are good at handing it out but we aren't very good when the tables are turned. Besides, its just Mr. Dithers desperate for votes and means nothing. It has nothing to do with the average person. Just take it for what it is worth, just the kids acting up. Canada is so French. We hate are friends and suck up to our enemies. Does anyone notice we never get mad at Cuba, Iran, China or mention how dirty the UN is?
I guess not, as that would upset all the left wing wacko Liberals and NDPers.

"finally when someone has the balls to upbraid us we go all thin skin"

What!? To me it looks like Paul Martin is actually trying to look like he has some skin, I mean isnt that the point of this whole thing? Im not a Paul Martin fan, but it seems pretty obvious that he is trying to make himself appear tougher on issues of Canadian Nationalism.

"Canadians are good at handing it out but we aren't very good when the tables are turned"

Like i said im not a Paul Martin supporter, however I do give him some credit (even though I think he's full of sh*t)for standing up to the Bush administration. Paul Martin did not make the U.S. an election issue, it only became one when the U.S. embassador got involved, even harper agrees. I think it was a good thing that Martin said what he did, if only it was more often and more uniform.

"Canada is so French. We hate are friends and suck up to our enemies. Does anyone notice we never get mad at Cuba, Iran, China or mention how dirty the UN is?
I guess not, as that would upset all the left wing wacko Liberals and NDPers."

The obvious answer to this is that since Canada and the U.S. are the biggest trade partners in the world, of course the U.S. is going to influence Canada to a greater extent then Iran, China, Cuba or anywhere else.
Now my question to you is if you really think that were all that "french", why dont you leave?
Maybe if you lived somewhere else you would see how great this country really is and stop complaining about it, then again if you left and you liked it youd be happy, and so would the rest of us.

Canadians need to realize that we are going to have to toughen up if were going to be equal trade partners in the future, it doesnt mean hating Americans, but it does certainly mean protecting our interests. if the U.S. remains our largest trade partner then you can expect MUCH dialogue with the U.S., and its a good thing, not a bad one.

I'm not upset with Americans but with the American Administrations that attacks Canada, Canadians and Canadian politicians during their elections but don't see a problem when they do it.

Paul Martin is full of hot air. The only difference between Martin and Harper vis-a-vis the US is Harper wants to sell Canada out and Martin just wants to rent it.

Neither sees the country as more than a resource base for transnationals. All the BS posturing aside, both would be happy as Governor of the State of Canada.

    Both are seditious liars.
