If I haven't said it before, Peter MacKay must be one of the worst party leaders in Canadian history. I'm not 100% behind him but I think he's on the right track.

Sorry Dude. I'd comment, but I can't see the video. Like most geek-hippies, I will not install Windows on anything I own. I've even managed to remove it from my companies computers, but our new American Overlords are putting it back.<p> <p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain <br />

Looks like you can get them from <a href="http://www2.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/">here</a>. <p> That's too bad about your company wasting money on Windows. At least you exposed some people to alternatives for a while! <p><p>---<br>JvH

There must be a story behind that, windows? I don't get it, isn't that the program most of us use? Sorry but I am somewhat ignorant of technology, I really am just a user, don't get into the technical end, if it works I like it...please tell me why not windows?

Whelan... I assume Dr Caleb is referring to Linux. Unlike Windows, which is Microsoft's baby, Linux is open source, which means that the code of the system is owned by the public. It's a very anti-corporation piece of software that comes in many different packagings, some sold, some distributed for free. And it's more powerful than windows, though not yet quite as user friendly.

Hope that clears it up a bit.

Like Cory said. Linux or FreeBSD.<p> Linux has been around longer than Windows, and because it isn't hidden, many eyes can look at it and develop stuff for it.<p> More: <a href='http://www.linux.org/info/index.html'>Linux.org</a> and <a href='http://www.freebsd.org/index.html'>FreeBSD</a> or <a href='http://www.openbsd.org/'>Open BSD</a>.<p> Linux tends to be easier than BSD. Vendors tend to be <a href='http://fedora.redhat.com/'>RedHat</a>, <a href='http://www.debian.org/'>Debian</a>, <a href='http://www.mandrakesoft.com/'>Mandrake</a>, and <a href='http://www.unitedlinux.com/'>United Linux</a> (supported by IBM and the likes).<p> Did we mention the price? Nothing. Zero. It's the opposite of Windows, you pay for support if you want to.<p> <p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain <br />

Did you find it simple to instal Linux? Do I actually have to save all my files I want to keep before I would install this operation system? What should I expect if I went from Windows XP to Linux? positive - negative?

    Thanks!
