But well below the headlines on the latest bilateral chill, anonymous officials in Ottawa and Washington continued toiling on an agreement that could actually extend Canada-U.S. collaboration on continental defence.
Ignoring the high-level bile, they took the first steps toward a renewed continental defence agreement that goes well beyond a ballistic missile shield and its political fallout.
