Sign Him Up !

And for this, the price we have to pay is the fear of party leaders suddenly having to work together to form coalitions, rather than governing as benevolent dictators.

I just have one question: Where do I sign up?

GLEN MacDONALD Toronto

My only question is: who says the dictators are benevolent ??

Sorry Jim. The idea of proportional voting makes sense. Which is why it'll never happen.<p> Perhaps if something were to shake the political foundation significantly, such as scandals in BC, then perhaps they'd prefer appeasing the masses with a system that works, rather than jail time.<p> And just for our illustrious Admin: First Post!! :)<p><p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain <br />"The greatest price of not participating in politics is being governed by your inferiors." Martin said on his CBC town-hall meeting that he\'s against P.R. because it \"Usually\" produces minority governments. Talk about a guy preying on the ignorant.

-Hurtig prefers preferential PR. I\'ll have to read up on them. It looks like Ontario\'s prick-Liberals MAY still go done the PR road, but I can\'t imagone why they would now......may as well wait and win another majority first.

    Humbug!

These alternative voting systems are complex issues, and the Preferential system is a very complex way of voting.

You have to list your candidates in order of preference, and you can vote for one, more than one, or rate all the candidates. Then the votes are tallied and listed at the end of this procedure, and your first choice may be everyone else\'s second choice, so the results will at least have the candidates with the most votes at the top of the list.

There may also be a box for you to select your favourite party as well.

A lot of voters will be turned off by a highly complex voting system, but we really have to start somewhere.

Beating Martin at the polls in the spring would certainly be the answer, because just about all other parties want electoral reform.

    Wouldn\'t that be great ??

    Dreamer !!
