CLC Charges CanWest With Libel Over "Free Trade Was Right" Lie

I remember seeing that story & wondering what the labour boss could have been thinking. I think the story even made it onto this site. I think it may be too late for the labour boss even if he wins his lawsuit. Once something is said, the damage is done, I think.

Retractions, even if forced through the courts, along with a press conference is necessary. This is a distortion of the truth that the aspers would like Canadians to believe, but if we say it loud enough, it will work against them.

If people are presented with the dark facts about NAFTA, then not only will Georgetti be cleared, but people will see that it had not so much to do with trade as it did with increased investment in the form of corporate US takeover of Canada`s resource base and economy.

libel cases aren't made to clean up a mess already made, they're to stifle future dissent. By losing a 'nothing-on-the-line' libel case, regarding simple rhetoric, allows the Canwest group to justify launching their own, much more mendacious, libel claims against people who oppose how the Asperites champion the fascist-loving apartheid-supporting 'home country'..
