I don't know if anyone saw it, but Canada tonight had some of the "Bush in 30 seconds" featured. Some are quite scathing, and some are quite funny. Go! You won't regret it!

"Never leave people in peace, because when they are in peace, you are nobody. Then they don't need you; your very purpose is gone. They need you only when there is danger; so create danger. If there is not real danger, at least create the climate of a false danger." -- Adolf Hitler

That quote gets me in trouble if I post it in the presence on any Americans. They just don't get it; if we ignore history, we will repeat it. I guess that it's because one of the great strengths of Canadians is to be able to be extremely self critical. We get much strength from that fact, but Americans don't like to question their beliefs and analyze their passions.

---
"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain

I read this article, and I already knew that Bush was just like Hitler. But I think Canada, instead of being like a subservient Switzerland or Romania, should be more like POLAND! - Resist to the very end, even if you`ve been conquered! Why comply with brutality?

Comparisons of Bush and Hitler are finally making the big time.
Is this going to be too much for American sensibilities? Gringo Dave Lindorff praises the ads and tells more of the story in a Counterpunch article, RNC Plays the Hitler Card
Admittedly, MoveOn did apologize for the ads, saying they were "in poor taste" and promising "a more effective filtering system" in the future. They didn't say how better censorship would make Bush less like Hitler, but maybe that wasn't the idea.
For real foaming at the mouth and not getting it at the same time, check out antiwar.com's Anthony Gancarski's attack on Lindorff.
I thought the Walkom article was by far the most calm and well-reasoned--except that he failed to note the Axis of Evil and National Security Strategy as an agenda for aggressive global conquest (newly reiterated by Perle and Frum in An End to Evil). No mention either of Arab suspects detained in some cases for several years without charge but not at Guantanamo. No mention of sub-contracted torture a la Maher Arar. Maybe Walkom underestimates Bush's kinship with Hitler.
The Kelly Toughill article mentioned by Walkom is more relevant to sovereignty.

I think the self censorship by moveon was so they don't end up in Gitmo. See the finalists page, "In My Country" and "Al Keyda". quote: "It's not likely, but it's legal!" :)

---
"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain
