    you GO Mr. Anderson!

He'd have a lot of support internationally, and personally, I think that's where Canada ought to be looking these days for innovative ways to approach policy development.

Better if he were to join the NDP. Greenpeace gave them higher marks on theie environmental policy than the Greens.

Kyoto would be a disaster for Canada and Canadians. And would have zero affect on climate change - Anderson or anyone else who 'feels' so bad that we're 'not doing anything for the planet' should turn off the furnaces in their houses, sell their cars, drain their bank accounts and send the money to China - that would be putting their money where their mouth is. But no, they want to tell other people how to live instead, power is always more fun than integrity - just ask the Liberals.

I'd favour the defection, but anon is right--Kyoto sucks.

That being said, of course we shoud have more fuel efficient cars....indsutry could probably improve much mroe than 25% tomorrow morning....they have the technology, let's be honest.

Of course David Anderson won't say the minster of industry Mr. Emerson could propose dumping the auto pact and creating a Canadian car company, and build the best car in the world, as Ballard could with Bombardier, New Flyer, Orion, Prevost, anyone.

Anon, you won't be able to turn on your furnace, drive your car or spend your money if the world becomes uninhabitable thanks to people like you with your ignorance and obsession with materials and consumption. And if you don't believe the world is in danger because of all this pollution crap from the flawed industrial revolution, then just go up to the polar ice caps and have a nice swim!

Nope. Greens aren't green enough in Canada.

They have a right-wing bent to them as long as their leader is a former PC.

Having said that, a Lib crossing the floor is another nail in the coffin for martin, and we had better look out when the next election comes around, because then we'll have to deal with harper.

    Best idea:

All NDP and CAP members take out Green membership, hold a convention, pick a Green leader, and THEN make it a truly Green party, social programs and all.

I think now that the PC (Progressive Canadian) Party is now fully and legally registered as a party we should get behind it and develop that alternative to the liberals. I think now the party is the true party of MacDonald and Diefinbaker. The Mulroony's and the other right wingers are gone to the Conservative party and have really gone right.
Those left in the Progressive Canadian Party are the true Red Tories.

The Greens have moved right-of-centre, and so would be more compatible with liberal policy.

The main problem with Green policy is that it relies on voluntary compliance from industry to "do the right thing". We've already been down that road................

I think Canadians vote for Liberals because, for some reason, they can usually get away with anything (lying, stealing, strippers, mob families, et cetera)...the funny thing as that they don't even have a good damage control team (wait, that's not funny, that's sad, you know, that Canadians don't care their government is filled with corruption).

BTW, I applaud this Liberal for sticking to his convictions and not towing the party line on the environment.
