Musicians: Defend The Right To Download

While I'm not an economist, my analysis indicates that they are really being harmed by competition and their outdated business model. Just as electric light bulbs replaced candles, a replacement of the old with new innovation is considered progress and not something that governments should be stepping in to try to stop. We need to build a coalition of musicians that share some pretty basic ideas. - Canada should not shut down new technologies that offer distribution alternatives to the big foreign record companies - downloaders are not thieves - they're fans - Canada should adopt policies that encourage Canadian artists, and that keep money in Canada - CRIA does not speak for all Canadian artists This is a start, and will be improved over time. Right now we want to get this message out and to try to get as many people to sign on as possible. Please send me an Email if you are interested! Whether you are a musician or not, please forward this message to all the musicians you know. -- Russell McOrmond, Internet Consultant: <http://www.flora.ca/>; http://www.digital-copyright.ca/blog/2 (My BLOG) Sign the Petition Users' Rights! http://digital-copyright.ca/petition/
