I can't see the video - please tell me they sent it to the bottom with no warning!

Now, if only Canada could grow a pair and put our subs out, fully armed in search of drug smugglers and Portugese drag net fishing trawlers.

There wasn't any info on whether or not it was in international waters or where it was
This sets a very dangerous precedent.

This story needs to be corroborated with credible sources because it's an unbelievable display of intentional murder. No matter if the crew of that freighter were smuggling drugs or not, the crime first has to be proven in a court of law, and the punishment for drug smuggling in Australia is normally not execution via explosive dismemberment. For all we know, the ship was full of refugees, including innocent children who were just trying to find a better life for themselves.

This may be just target practice. Normal event - disposing of scrap ships into new reefs.

Most Google hits come back to the same LiveLeak page. Single Source events are usually fakes - or intentional misrepresentations.

    From Wikipedia:

After capture the ship was brought to Sydney Harbour where it was originally moored at Garden Island naval base, Woolloomooloo. From there it was taken to Snails Bay, and moored for over two years, where it was reportedly costing over $2500 a day for maintenance and security. Finally it was taken to Chowder Bay in early 2006 while authorities decided what to do with it.

Authorities eventually decided to scuttle the ship and on 23 March 2006, in a joint RAAF and RAN military exercise...

"Now, if only Canada could grow a pair and put our subs out, fully armed in search of drug smugglers and Portugese drag net fishing trawlers."

Blowing up drug smugglers would piss off the CIA, not to mention our former Prime Minister Paul Martin.

It's a great idea to effectively fend off illegal fishing, but the crime is done by just about everyone, therefore blowing up a few fishing boats will "net" a few or our own. Besides, what is deemed "legal" and "illegal" is a political farce as far as the dwindling stocks of fish are concerned.

I simply cannot stand behind hypocrites and liars, no one should.

    Thanks DC.

The lesson here is to always check your sources, and check again. If it smells bad it probably is. (etc)
