Martin, Fox To Press For Open Borders, Discuss Deeper Integration With U.S.

Martin is meeting with President Bush. Some people see this as a way to establish better relations between Canada and the U.S., and deal with the mess of border issues that have been separating the two countries.

From Martin, Fox vow to fight U.S. border crackdown:

"We are a North American market and the North American market must be open to goods from the three countries," Prime Minister Paul Martin said after a meeting with Mexican President Vicente Fox. "The border cannot become a non-tariff barrier. It must be open."

Both Mr. Martin and Mr. Fox are expected to press the need for open borders at separate meetings with U.S. President George W. Bush in the midst of the Summit of the Americas. The meeting of 34 Western Hemisphere countries begins today in this northern Mexican city.

    If the U.S do start the \'U.S label\' on beef. And this affects Canadian beef industry. Aren\'t farmers in Canada able to sue the U.S government under chapter 11 in NAFTA????

    Yes, and they probably would......most of the ranchers are big-scale business annyway. They don\'t care about the family farm.
