DEVILS LAKE: Prime The Pumps

Posted on Friday, July 22 at 10:29 by Anonymous
This year another $90 million will be spent in the Devils Lake basin. This includes $28 million for the outlet; $35 million to move U.S. Highway 281; $6 million to raise Grahams Island road; $7 million to add 3 feet on to the Devils Lake city levee; $3 million for Sully's Hill National Wildlife Refuge; $5 million on U.S. Highway 2; and $6 million for other roads and bridges, according to the State Water Commission. Residents in nearby Nelson County also have been impacted by Devils Lake, which has been flowing into Stump Lake for the past four years. In 2004, Devils Lake water was flowing into Stump Lake at a rate of 30 cubic feet per second. This week the flow increased to nearly 400 cfs. http://www.grandforks.com/mld/grandforks/12183369.htm [Proofreader's note: this article was edited for spelling and typos on July 23, 2005]

So the people who understand the issue in the U.S. are hoping the Canadians will put a stop to it! We can only hope!

Forget it! Let them pump away. We will have a new out look on U.S. Canada Treaties and Diplomacy from this point on. The State trumps the Federal Government in international treaties at the end. Self interest is the rule of the day in the end.

It will mean political suicide for any Provincal Politician in Canada in regards to future treaties and Business arangements with American States.
