What would be so bad about a manority government? And what would be good about it?

I've read many times about our past history of manority government. Most reviews are positive. I don't know much myself cause I was young and not involved or interested.

There are probably better experts on this than me Kevin, but what I understand as a problem for minority gov is that they can't get anything done, with a majority the party must vote according to the party line, so they will always win the vote and therefore can pass much through the HOC without really hearing the voices of dissent. But I don't really agree with this because, if a minority gov had to convince the other members who are also obligated to serve the people, we might actually get 'good' things done, instead of just what the party wants to do.

A minority gov would give them a mandate to 'serve' the country not exploit it!

If they teamed up with the NDP, a Liberal minority government would mean a serious look at electoral reform.

Minority governments typically mean a more cautious government; it won't try to push something through that's too extreme. Votes of non-confidence are typical (as happened to the '79 Clark government), and they will generally only last 1-3 years before another election is called. You might even see the Liberals bouncing back and forth for support between the NDP and Conservatives (depending on how many seats these two parties get).
