Posted on Sunday, January 18 at 10:32 by Jim Callaghan
Linda McQuaig is getting better all the time. She has come out in favour of Belinda Stronach as the leader of the Conservatives. After all, who better to run the right-wing than a right-winger.

With mulroney and harris to advise her, how could she possibly go wrong ??

A pretty version of Brian Mulroney - oh boy - oh joy happy cheap labour times for all Canadians!

On another matter - I would suggest those that love to read take in Linda\'s excellent new book - Greed and Lust - it puts capitalism into a historical context and has a great chapter on Red Vienna - re Polyani.

No sir! One more 'Like Dave' comment and it's wet towels at 20 paces :)<p> I still consider myself very much on the right, but you don't give a job like this to someone with no experience. She'll get eaten alive, and become someone elses' pawn. Plus, I have zero confidence in her abilities. <p> She's not what the party needs to succeed. I still firmly believe that businessmen and lawyers make bad politicians.<p> <p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain <br />"The greatest price of not participating in politics is being governed by your inferiors." She\'s only average in looks, ...although I\'m sure she chases the *ick a fair amount.

Then I guess there\'ve never been anygood politicans then. Not that I think law or business matters, but the stiffs generally come from there.

I don\'t believe left/right arguments matter, anyway. I believe a government should have elements from left/right, authoritarian/libertarian to be successful.

Yeah, this certainly shows desperation on the part of the conservatives. But can any one of us just magically show up running for the leadership of a political party like this? Proof once again that big money is running everything. I just hope people aren`t fooled by this tactic. Then again, no matter who becomes the leader of the conservatives, I hope nobody is fooled! While we`re at it, hopefully people will wake up to the liberals, which is cuttently quite close in resembling the conservative plan to hand Canada over to the US on a silver platter.

In response to this clip from the article:

[[[[[It was therefore with some surprise that I read David Olive\'s column on the front page of the Star on Friday, suggesting that being a rich kid who had never had to make it on her own and who has no discernible political vision somehow makes her unsuitable for the leadership of the new right-wing party.

Huh? Isn\'t this the era of George W. Bush, whose credentials closely match those of Stronach — rich, connected, a businessperson with no demonstrated business acumen, and no apparent grasp of the daily struggles faced by ordinary people.]]]]]

Well she picked the right example in Mr. Bush. For one Mr. Bush is just a puppet to his military psychos. Mis.Stronach will also be a puppet of Mr. Mulroney and Harris. Oh boy!

Also I find it odd that this writter would use Mr. Bush as an example, considering his results as a president has obviously been very poor.

Well I\'m talking as if she will win the leadership race for the new conservative party. Maybe she won\'t even win.

I\'m starting to get the feeling though that it won\'t matter. The merge I believe will show a disapointing loss to the new conservative party.

Yeah, for a woman with kids, she\'s not bad....some pictures of her aren\'t to flattering, and in others, she looks very good. Not to turn this into an anthropology forum, but 37 isn\'t as old as it used to be, and you never know what kind of looks money can buy. I\'ve seen much better 37 year olds than her, but not politicians (Unless you count the Queen of of Jordan (or princess or whatever.)

Personally, I don\'t think Stronach would get noticed that much, if she weren\'t well-known and rich, although 9.1 million a year never looked so good......wait, Paris Hilton. Crap.

MILF Belinda babe. Let\'s bring sexism back to politics!!!

Ever notice how the only woman in politics are puppets to men....I wonder why that is....hhehehehehehe Mike Harris, Klein, Mulroney, Ecker & Clinton, I\'m on a winning team!!! heheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheh

Oh yeah, Caleb, if you\'re out there: What\'s up, Doc?

There have been good politicians, but IMHO, they started elsewhere. The best politicians have backgrounds that come from a need to server their country, be it military, police, doctors, public servants etc. Not careers motivated by the need to fill their wallets.<p> Anyone else heard the idea that everyone should serve time in parlament? Random lottery of voting age people, 2 year term, 1 term only? Wouldn't that erase party politics and self serving interests?<p> <p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain <br />"The greatest price of not participating in politics is being governed by your inferiors." Kevin, I think that was the idea, to compare her to Bush to show the similarities between the two.

Wealthy, clueless, and a tad dangerous.
