Subject: [CAP] Advisory: Canada's Census and Lockheed Martin

Dear CAP Friends,

Not long ago, thanks to questioning by NDP Member of Parliament Bill Blaikie, Industry Minister Allan Rock was forced to admit that a contract for a preliminary census was awarded to a consortium that included giant U.S. defence contractor Lockheed Martin.

Long time Canadian patriot Mel Hurtig strongly objected and suggested Canadians might have to boycott the procedure to force the government to change its mind.

Meanwhile NDP Leader Jack Layton called on incoming prime minister Paul Martin to cancel the deal.

The Canadian Action Party, too, is outraged. It is a foregone conclusion that every bit of Canadians' private information would wind up in the computers of U.S. defence and intelligence agencies. It is the most blatant breach of sovereignty to date and if this is the price of NAFTA, that treaty must be abrogated.

We ask you to register your disapproval with Allan Rock. You can do it simply. Just visit http:vivelecanada.ca/article.php?story=200310111707274 . Add your name and address to our sample e-mail and hit send. If you like, you can also take a moment to personalize your message by editing the sample mail.

Please do your bit to help save Canada and keep it independent

Sincerely,

Paul Hellyer

Didn\'t the CAP vote to merge with the NDP? What\'s the latest on
    that?

Yes, they adopted a resolution to pursue a merger. I would guess they\'re still in discussions with the NDP.
