NDP Welcomes Resolution Of Crisis

Posted on Monday, May 03 at 11:00 by KevinGagnon

On Thursday, Premier Gordon Campbell?s government passed legislation that provoked further conflict in an already very tense dispute.

What I heard very clearly from British Columbians is that Bill 37 was a mistake. The government went too far. One of the challenges of governing responsibly is to admit when mistakes are made and then quickly do what?s necessary to rectify the damage that?s been caused.

This agreement is potentially disastarous. The workers feel that their union has sold them out. It has slowed (not stopped) privitisation, no more than 600 over the next two years. But there is still the 15% across the board wage roll back. This agreement only delays the inevitable general strike.

This is not over. B.C.ers are SO FED UP WITH THIS GOVERNMENT, that I know this is not over.

One very hilarious sign a striker was carrying said "I'm being ordered back to work by a convicted druck driver." And then the megalomanic Gordon Campbell was on the radio today saying to the strikers "you can't break the law without consequences". I think he's the perfect example that a POLITICIAN can do just that.

This is a very sad day for Canada, I couldn't believe the union caved on the workers, contracting out is just another waste of money and rolling back the wages is ludicrous. They may be making more then other people in Canada doing the same job, but the cost of living in B.C. is higher for everything as far as I know, I mean what is the average cost of a home? This is just another gov trying to break the union. IMO

It feels like our politicians come to power with an agenda in place and plans that have nothing to do with the best interests of the citizens. The damage that can be done in just 4 years with someone like Campbell in office is remarkable. And, I think if you're a convicted drunk driver you shouldn't be allowed to collect a pension after you leave office, because if seems you can stay on with impunity.
