Chavez Address To The United Nations

Posted on Thursday, September 21 at 12:59 by Sgt_ShockNAwe
The hegemonic pretensions of the American empire are placing at risk the very survival of the human species. We continue to warn you about this danger and we appeal to the people of the United States and the world to halt this threat, which is like a sword hanging over our heads. I had considered reading from this book, but, for the sake of time," [flips through the pages, which are numerous] "I will just leave it as a recommendation. http://www.commondreams.org/views06/0920-22.htm

When or were will the Canadian electorate find their Hugo Chavez?

Yesterday, ladies and gentlemen, from this rostrum, the president of the United States, the gentleman to whom I refer as the devil, came here, talking as if he owned the world. Truly. As the owner of the world.<<

Just so precise! Even those who didn't believe in a Devil/Satan, probably do now. Predictions of a satan walking the earth seems to be plausible. Bush firmly believes that he is the owner of the world and all must do his bidding.

The man has balls! When I watched him stand up and deliver that speech I grinned so hard that I think the corners of my mouth met on the back of my head.

He is one of a kind. Perhaps not the ideal but certainly speaks the right words. He may lead his country to independance from the USA and he is building the foundation as he goes. Cuba was segregated from the rest of the world because of American influence. Chavez has the advantage over Castro. Bush is not well received where as Kennedy was. To answer your question; never. Canada is entangled with the US, to the point she will never be independent of them. We have Premiers and a PM who sells everything owned by Canadians to the Americans. It's to late even now to reclaim the bits and pieces. Trudeau had once said that Canada was not for sale but NAFTA came as soon as he was gone. The same will happen once Chavez is gone. No wonder the people of CUBA were so frightened when they thought they were to lose Castro.

Try going to his country and saying those same things about him..........if you have the "balls", but you won't, because you don't.

Even though I don't like Chavez alliances with extremist Islamic regimes, I must recognize, as some of you have said, that he has his "balls". He's one of the few Latin American leaders who, at least, tells the truth about this people (not like Uribe, our president, another "puppy of Bush").

Unfortunately, he's losing some of his appeal in Venezuela, 'cause the opposition is now united and some of the real problems of that country are not quite solved, even with the huge amounts of money Caracas is receiving for oil.

I don't like him a lot, but I prefer him in power to one of those traditional politicians who return the power to the elites who have always robbed Venezuelan people.

---
Julián Ortega Martínez

I think he had his tongue firmly in cheek when he said Bush was the Devil ;)

He is poking fun at the Christian Empire. I do not believe he ACTUALLY believes Bush is the horned one! I liked his comment about the lingering smell of brimstone, though. Guy does a good stand-up!

I don't believe in such a beast but the concept. I am so far removed from religion that I never assumed anyone was refering to an actual. Bush started with "the Axis of evil" and now Chavez refers to him as the ultimate evil Icon. As religous as Bush claims to be, he must be getting the point.

Chavez has a lot of catching up to do and not withstanding, the American fed opposition. He has taken on the master of corruption and a very powerful foe. The Americans are openly spending millions on propaganda. Chavez has to be very brave or very silly. An Australian media source refers to his stand in the UN as an absurd stunt. The biggest hurdle Chavez has to face, is winning the support for his country.

That jab sounds like a paraphrase of what John Bolton said in response to Chavez' comments. Can't come up with a comeback for yourself?

Well, you're right. At least Chavez hasn't proposed microchips even for his foes as another Latin American leader...
---
Julián Ortega Martínez

First of all Wraun, I used to come here BEFORE you had to register. You know, when you could post as an Anon. At least I had the courage to register when Jessie changed it.
Second of all, to call me a troll? Don't you know that the FIRST ONE to start the name calling has already lost the arguement?
So, since you have lost, I'll not respond to your point.

Well Dio, I see you haven't changed much. I really don't see a need for you to 'raise' as we are not playing poker.
So then, back to my point. Could you go to Venezuela and say the same things about Hugo Chavez as he said about Bush? Yes or no.
