Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day! Jour heureux du Canada! Today is the anniversary of Canadian confederation in 1867 and the birth of Canada as a nation. As we're celebrating today, let's not forget that if Canada is to have a future as a strong, independent country, we must keep fighting NAFTA plus and the SPP. But this Canada Day we have reason to hope, with more people than ever before now aware of the issues, with parliamentary hearings having been conducted on the SPP, and with activists mobilizing nationally to protest the SPP meetings coming up in August. Vive le Canada! This country is not for sale!

Thanks Susan! I just started a forum topic to create a list of the Canada we want.
Please feel free to add to my thoughts.

I think it is important to be aware of the things that are happening, but not to
stay in that 'fight' mode, we have to have a focus on what we are going to
replace these things we don't want with...we would serve our nation more fully if
we have a concept of what we do want this nation to be. We know what we don't
want, but have we considered what we do want?

HAPPY CANADA DAY!! Universal top quality public health care is what I want to see. In fact, I want to see this great country of ours reach its full potential that we all know can happen. I think one of the last hurdles to overcome is economic discrimination.

    "we must keep fighting NAFTA"

And we must stop fighting corporate wars based on lies for someone else's personal gain, and we must stop the creeping restrictions on our freedom to associate, freedom to travel, right to privacy from government intrusion, and so on.

Canada is going down the toilet drain fast, and it appears that the people of Canada are more than happy to go along for the ride.
