CBC Chair Resigns Amid Controversy

"I inform this House that I have received the voluntary resignation of Mr. Fournier effective today," Minister of Canadian Heritage Bev Oda told the House of Commons yesterday, prompting loud cheers and spontaneous applause from her Conservative colleagues. Mr. Fournier tendered his resignation after sparking a public outcry in the wake of last week's publication of his regular column in the gossip magazine 7 jours, where he made unfounded remarks about male sexual behaviour in Lebanon. "In Lebanon, the law makes it possible for men to have sexual intercourse with animals as long as they are females. To do the same thing with male animals could lead to the death penalty," he wrote.     Quite the irony that this guy used to write "situation comedies". He also made the case recently that the public broadcaster should serve us state propaganda. Great exit script I must add.
