We Found WMD – And It Was Ours

Posted on Sunday, June 25 at 12:11 by Roy_Whyte
I opened the folded off-white paper form and noticed several interesting things right away. The bombs had been purchased in the United States in 1988 from what appeared to be a government contractor called The Carlyle Group. I am almost embarrassed now to say that I had not heard of The Carlyle Group at that time so the name meant nothing to me. The only reason I remember it at all is that I was amazed that the bill was in English and I was stunned to see that a bomb that was used by Iraq in delivering chemical WMD – the only WMD found during the entire Iraq war – was in fact supplied to Saddam Hussein by the United States. Un-blanking believable.

As the information begins to flow we shall all be enlightened. Too bad so many had to die before the truth can be revealed.

This is certainly one book I am looking forward to reading. The article nor any other source says what happened to his report - or the WMDs. Was it simply buried, forgotten, glossed-over or never put up the chain of command?

Reports today say that over 50,000 civilians in Iraq have been killed since the beginning of the war. For what exactly? American made WMDs?

Three errors stand out. The small one: it's a Bill of Lading, not a bill of
laden.

A bigger one: "Ours" meaning the U.S.A., not ours. Or has Deep
Integration taken hold already?

Another big one: The Carlyle Group isn't shipping widgets or bombs.
They're an investment group:

Carlyle Group
www.thecarlylegroup.com
[from Wikipedia]

The Carlyle Group is a Washington, D.C. based global private equity
investment firm with approximately USD$40 billion of equity capital
under management. The firm operates four fund families, focusing on
leveraged buyouts, venture capital, real estate and high-yield
investments. The firm employs more than 300 investment professionals
in 14 countries with multiple offices in North America, Europe and Asia.
It boasts of having on its staff, 138 MBAs, 24 JDs and 14 Ph.D/MDs from
many of the world’s most prestigious universities.

Even if the Carlyle group financed this, would they be so stupid as to put their name on a bill of lading for arms? Geez, it is really too bad that he lost that paper and there is no surviving copy. Tragic and convenient. So hard to find good help these days. Ah, well, back to conjecture and innuendo.

The exerpt reads like a novel, not a fact based assessment of what he found. I think he's spent too much time writing his novels and is having a hard time separating the two.

Mary you wrote that as if "ours" means Canada. Did you read the entire article?

"Dave DeBatto is a former U.S. Army counterintelligence special agent and a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom."

The man is an expert, he was there, this was witnessed by others, or do we in the case of Michael in our rush to absolve Bush Co of their crimes, ignore them too?

Where's the proof? Oh yeah, he forgot to make a copy. Convenient.

Why would he lie? Oh yeah, he is lying because he hates Bush right?

And it sells books. Oh wait, that would make him a capitalist wouldn't it? And we all hate them, don't we?

Now you are just grasping at straws. Why is he lying? Answer that to begin with. He was paid and served his country in a position to do what he did - find WMDs. His blog makes it clear that he is not some Bush hating freak that is out to defame his nation in order to turn a buck.

He was an expert in his field and he reported what he found, so once again - the burden of proof is on those naysayers to prove he has some alternative motive in mind.

I don't need to prove that he's lying. I just need to say "where's the beef?" - or in this case the proof. He has none. The burden of proof when making any statement is on the person making the statement. In this case, him. He has no more proof that he actually found this than you or I have that the he found magic beans that grew and took him to neverland.
