The FI is part of the long term, "great plan" for corporate dictatorship over the globe.

It was one of over 100 so called "conservative economic think tanks", in reality disguised advertising agencies, set up across North America in the mid '70s to sell and force the acceptance of the Friedmanite neoclassical theory on universities and on the public. Their purpose is to destroy all forms of government, which means democracy, and replace it with the dog eat dog market economy theory, disguised as "wealth creation". With large corporate donations and the control of the captive media they've been extremely successful in capturing the political and public mind. For how long, is another question? I hope to see the end of this crime wave well within my lifetime and, hopefully, the beginning of a real Age of Enlightenment"

Through history, humanity has always been saved by a relatively small number of people pulling it up by its bootstrings from of the cyclical disasters caused by ruling classes. Let's hope that the change to a sane and democratic economic system will come through the victory of logic and not by bloody revolutions, which usually replace one corrupt ruling class by another.

The major irony, regarding the FI, is that it is a registered "charitable organization" prospering on tax deductible donations. Anybody can join for a $25,000 yearly donation. Ed Deak, Big Lake, BC.

They're not anti-Canadian, just dissappointed that so many Canadian voters no longer care about basic things like right and wrong or the institutions that built this country. And they have a good point. Does our current government have any guiding principles whatsoever? There doesn't appear to be any, only expedient sound bites and holding on to power at any cost regardless of the consequences to Canada.

PEOPLE built this nation. Institutions are but an instrument of our design for a desired purpose. Institutions are NOT people. Institutions serve the people, not the other way around as the Fraser Institute and yourself would have it.

This woman claims to be a small "a" anarchist. From her "about me":
A true anarchist takes responsibility for everything that happens to oneself, doesn't yearn for leadership, doesn't look for safety cushions, doesn't require flags, laws or religion to keep one decent, honest and fair-minded.
That is what FI stands for! For the most part they're libertarian...pretty much anarchy with limited government to enforce negative rights.
I think she needs to reassess her beliefs or FI, as her written statement about herself is very much in line with that of FI.

So we all know which economic model you disapprove of. But what is it that you stand *for*, Ed? Are you a dyed-in-the-wool statist? A socialist or social democrat? How much government and how little individual liberty do you want in people's lives?

To what extent do you believe that we should be our brother's keeper? To what extent do you believe that state ownership of industry is a good thing? Do you think it is the place of government to try to shape the opinions and values of the governed? Let's hear something a little more that just "neocons bad".

I'll bet you all $5 dollars that most if not all FI people are on the CIA payroll.

The FI does want less government-in some areas, since it is common knowledge that whoever has the money controls the courts. Getting government out of the regulation business, etc., is good business. Corporations absolutely do not want to 'get rid of government' or even minimize government, they simply want it out of the business of taxing, attempting to control, or regulating business. However, they NEED the government to protect the ruling class' interests from us. Much of Canada's land and resources are either 'crown land' or else belong to natives. The government obviously must keep native's from exercising their treaty rights to land use, and obviously must keep US from using crown land for our own benefit, namely, either keeping it pristine for recreational use or for our offspring, or use it sensibly to maximize employment.

As far as the 'neocon bad' poster above, go check out policyalternatives.ca and you'll find that people are far from having no ideas about how to run a country.

FI Anarchist? Bull shit! They are statist to the core. What they are against is government helping the ordinary person. But suggest the abolition of corporate law or all the vast subsidies that support the capitalist system never! Anytime I see an article connected with the Fraser Institute or anyone writing on their behalf, I for one don't even bother to read it anymore since I know it will be a waste of my time.
