Manley Tiptoes Through Tulips

Posted on Saturday, March 27 at 11:14 by Flick
This new angle is just a Trojan Horse, probably trying to grab market share from the Conservatives, sneaking a Conservative agenda (closer ties to the U.S.) in a progressive disguise ("I know that George W. Bush is not an easy sell in Canada; it doesn't matter. He is the elected leader of our neighbour, and our biggest customer by far.") .

Although we don't like Bush, we have to deal with him and get closer to the States anyway. Clever.

The problem is in his conclusion. "We can disagree without beeing disagreeable." Not only is that an illogical statement -- read it again -- but disagreeing with the US on Iraq, for instance, has already been framed clearly by Mr Bush: "You are with us or you are with the terrorists."

They are the ones who become "disagreeable" whenever you "disagree" with them; and the policies of Bush are just plain "disagreeable" from the get-go.

Manley was tapped to run the ommission (no it's not a typo) on power in Ontario. Guess what? They don't have enough and thanks to right wing governments saving them money they also can't afford to construct more power plants unless they go into partner ship with private corp.s. You know what that means, the public pays for building it and for running it and the corp.s will handle the bill collection. Also manley has discovered that the cheapest most efficient way to go is nuclear, cause there is lots of uranium and if you don't count the human health and environmental effects from dumping the waste that they still haven't figured out how to neutralize 40 years later, and you don't factor in possible disaster scenarios like meltdowns, cause if you can't measure it ignore it, then it is sure to be a winner. Besides those nasty Ontarions refused to privatize the energy industry, don't they know about the profit principle, what kind of godless heathen profits are they worshipping anyway?

Let's all put money in a pot and raise enough funds to buy tickets for Klein, Manley, Cambell, Martin and Hamm. We can send them to an island, or send them to their real home. The United States of America.

Well, we know which side Manley is on in the deep integration debate.

It's amazing more people don't know what's happening considering how they're laying out the agenda for integration so clearly.

If this is a trial balloon I suggest we should express some outrage, and at least send a letter to the editor or two.

    Susan,

I agree. I encouraged others here in a post in the forums to write letters to the editor. It will help to at least create some local awareness. It will allow people to be aware, then decide if they want to look deeper into these issues. Once they do look into these issues much closer, they find out exactly what we find out. Canada is going to be economically taken over by the U.S.

There's a guy who writes to the editor to our local press who understand all about what we talk about here. I haven't met the guy yet, but I think with more letters from me and him in the letter to the editor, we will sooner or later meet. Would love to work with him to organize a local event.

I know he wants to see NAFTA expanded to include social policy. That would be scary if it really happened.

I'm getting rather tired of this. Once I become a crown attorney I am going to lay criminal charges on these anti-Canadians for treason under 46(2)(b) and (e) and 46(4) of the criminal code.

The article could have been quoting Paul Cellucci,(except for the hard to sell Bush to Canadians part). I wonder if the US thought Canadians would buy this crap from Manley easier than from Cellucci? I ain't buyin Manley.

I truly believe Canadians need to get rid of our provincial governments and take back Ottawa for ourselves. If one isn't screwing us over the other is. All one need do is look at the Council of Canadians website to see all the campaigns they have going just to keep the government on track. All of these issues concern me. I'm constantly emailing different ministers, departments, reporters..., I feel like I'm in a perpetual war with my bloody governments! WHY IS THAT? I'm getting battle weary. I shake my head whenever I think of how hard it is just to get my government to do the right thing!

CANADIANS SHOULDN'T HAVE TO GO TO BATTLE WITH OUR GOVERNMENT!

Their abuse of public trust makes me furious.

Hey 4Canada, I like your idea of dumping the provincial governments in principle. However, how do you propose pulling it off? I believe Ontario, Quebec and 5 other pronvinces must agree to do so.....of course, it makes complete sense, as our population is small, and concentrated in a few cities. We could still have municipal governmetns as well, and deal directly with them. Provinces could still have consultants and lobbyists.

For 8 years, the Liberals wouldn't give Ontario more healthcare money, as Mike Harris kepy using the money he got from Ottawa for tax cuts instead. We've got to stop this situation. It's hilarious. Toronto can't PUT IN RED-KIGHT CAMERAS OR EVEN A SPEED-BUMP WITHOUT provincial approval. It's crazy!

My main concern is if the 3 remaining provinces didn't want to give up their provincial governments, it could CAUSE some separation movements......your thoughts, people?

It is interesting that Manley suggests we should still disagree when fundamental values are at risk? How could we disagree with anything once we are fully integrated in this new world? Removing barriers for financial, communications and trade, really means handing over control of our country, what a complete and utter fraud!

Uh, Manley ticks me off. Isn't he the one who suggested Canada get rid of the monarchy right at the time of the Queen's Jubilee visit? He has no sense of what Canadians feel.

    Perturbed,

What if we just refused to vote and give any of these idiots a mandate to govern us? What could they do? We as a group walk into the government offices and just take over.
Certainly we need to organize and gather supporters for this kind of movement. I've warned Martin there could be a coup in Canada maybe I need to warn Campbell too.

    Hi 4Canada, thanks for replying.

I don't dislike your idea. A coup may be necessary. I just wonder about how practical it would be to get EVERYONE to not vote....just wondering, is there a MINIMUM number of votes one must get to win a seat? Meaning, could a government win if only 1 person voted in the entire country? If there is no law to prevent a party from winning a majority of a small number of votes, all it would take is a few corporate buddies, and.....not to mention, the leaders also can vote for themselves. :)

-Don't mean to be negative, but I'm courious as to the laws/logistics of ACTUALLY trying it. Any more info?
