Americans And Their Bloody Missiles

I don’t know when Rick had the opportunity last to live outside the gung-ho confines of a military base or in Canada for that matter (NORAD is housed in some giant rock in the States), but I’m thinking his knowledge of the Canadian view of George Bush’s scheme to put nuclear weapons all over the world and ultimately in outer space is probably skewed. It also seems as though Rick would make a helluva vacuum cleaner salesmen since his thoughts are concocted in a vacuum. But I digress.

Just look at it: Here we have a Canuck general stationed in a sophisticated, ultra-secretive mountain base, surrounded by American military officials and super high-tech gear – and he’s probably earning a decent paycheque while playing soldier safe from living the embarrassment that is the state of our armed forces – suggesting we’re all-for-one with Bush’s whacked nuke proliferation initiative. Also noteworthy, Rick and his pals are worried they might lose their jobs if Ottawa doesn’t get on board with Washington’s plans.

Call me a cynic, but I think this all but kills Rick’s credibility as an unbiased, informed and knowledgeable source for determining which way the wind blows with the average Canuck schlep riding the bus to work each day.

But, since Rick decided to take matters into his own hands on behalf of all of us, ol’ Sammy would like to offer you another view of what ordinary Canadians think of the U.S. missile defence plan:

Canada thinks the U.S. missile defence plan is going to get us all killed a few thousand times over. It will encourage the proliferation of nuclear weapons around the planet, and serve as the launch pad for the insane Star Wars initiative that’ll see the American military put nuclear weapons (pointed at Mother Earth) into outer space. Canadians think Americans are truly f**ked for even toying with the idea.

I have sent CNN many emails regarding my position on this subject, but I don't watch it all day to see if they ever got around to airing any of them.

They do show many emails from Canada and I just thought they should know how one more Canadian feels.

Watching Bush these days just makes me sick, the foolish little grin on his face needs a good swipe. Smirks don't show intelligence, they show contempt.

He's a contemptuous little man, and I'll be so glad if he loses the next election. I CAN'T TAKE ANY MORE OF THE LITTLE RUNT !!

There, I feel better now. Just like Dave does after one of his rants.

Keep it up, Dave, I'm learning.

It's amazingly clear if one takes the time to do some research on this subject to find out just how frickin bogus this "thousand points of light" crap is.
Just look at the way the lies flow about how well the "patriot" missile works.

IT DOESN'T. And they lie about it. Why? Because arms contractors are so far up the pentagon wazoo that they can't see daylight anymore. And they like it that way.

So...if this is true about a relatively simple (compared to the techno nightmare of star wars) missile then it's probably true about Ronnie's fantasy. Which is a billion times more complicated.

Trillions will be spent. For what?

What the hell are they so afraid of? The U.S. is the biggest arms dealer in the world. When will they see that this military wet dream is killing them? And us? With more than 1/2 of their taxes going to the military it's no wonder that the arms industry is leached to the yanks. The truth is though, that if you sell a gun to some insurgent group it'll eventually cost you 100 times as much to wrench that gun back from them when they have started pointing it a way the U.S. doesnt like. It in fact is probably cheaper (to taxpayers) not to sell it in the first place.

I just love the idea of getting out my telescope on a warm summer night and looking at the streaking satellites, wondering which ones are multi-megaton. And when...as the rule states...what went up comes down...and where.

What do the cretins, after hundreds of billions are wasted and stolen, propose to do about the mach 3 supersonic cruise missiles that at least three countries possess? For example, how is it possible for anyone (except God) to prevent Putin from vaporizing Israel in approximately four minutes with these weapons sitting in Syria, near the Caspian seam and also deployed on submarines? As usual the world and it's misguided attention, percieves a small misdirected picture of the movie.

It's amazing so many people are ready to buy into something so expensive and yet still unproven. Will it work? No one has proved it can. If they have I'd like to see it.

And of course you can easily come back to the argument that Sept 11 proved there are other, very damaging things to worry about that even a working missile defence can't prevent or stop. Namely, terrorism.

I am so sick of these people telling us what they KNOW Canadians want. It's like Stephen Harper saying his policies are supported by the "silent majority". Well, and as long as they keep silent no one will ever be able to dispute that. Or Bush saying he's supported by friends and allies, or that he's protecting his friends and allies. If that was the truth he'd just stay home - alone.

Bush is not going to develop a nuclear defense plan or star wars or anything of that ilk. He has blown the wad on Iraq, the only attack he will now muster is against his own citizenry and that will probably come sooner than later when he finds out the cracks in his little dictatorship are starting to show. At that point it will be some concocted excuse to implement marshall law, probably though a terrorist attack executed by rummy and co., much the same as 911, and blamed on the nebulous horde of terrorist elements hiding out throughout the U.S. and Canada and possibly Mexico. At any rate, don't expect anything grandiose from that loser bush, he is setting his sights much closer to home.
