Don’T Believe What You Hear About Don Hill Firing

Aaron Braaten I was halfway through a six-pack of Pabst when the phone rang. I let it ring twice before picking up. “Hello, Aaron? It’s me, Don Hill, from the CBC. Listen, I need you to get a pen and paper and write down everything I say. I was fired today after covering that Enron thing. The Oilberta cabal is rolling me hard for this one.” MORE: http://www.gateway.ualberta.ca/view.php?aid=4161

Ok someone is telling a little lie here.
Was he "fired" or was he FIRED?
Perhaps a little bit of skullduggery going on?
    Interesting.
I mean if nobody listens to the CBC,why would anyone complain about what Hill said?Right?
    Right?

Well I just read a reply to someone's complaint email, and sounds like maybe audience feedback could change this, maybe? Of course they are saying it was strictly a financial move, but don't they usually give a person and the audience warning when a show is ending?

I have had some serious concerns about the direction the CBC has taken for some time. There is no question that in many ways its television division has totally lost objectivity because of its political bias. When a personality like Don Newman on Newsworld promotes the idea that "Canadian values are Liberal values" and that the "Liberal Party is the natural governing party" he is merely spouting partisan propaganda. Is the promotion of certain Canadian large companies at the expense of the common good, a Canadian value? Is the promotion of an idea that is designed exclusively to sell our birthright for a fatter bottom line for the CEOs of the largest Canadian corporations a "Canadian value"? Is the facilitation of wealth inequality a Canadian value? It would seem to me that these are American values, rather than Canadian values.

You will also note the level of promotion that Manley and his North American report has received with it being promoted as "forward looking" etc. There seems to be an agenda that the CBC is driving but it is anything but a Canadian agenda.

Did they really call it forward looking? [they did say it didn't align itself with political realities.]
