At least Canada is no longer claiming to be rebuilding the country. The equipment to be supplied is assumidly weapons. O'Conner can only visualize more death as the solution. In that respect, O'Conner and the Americans will be doing a lot more for Afghanistan.

Subject: Support our troops. Bring 'em home.

As a New Democrat, I know you believe in peace. And in Canada's proud role as peacekeepers. That's why I'm writing to you now.

Today, Jack Layton called on Stephen Harper to listen to Canadians, and to end Canada's war-fighting mission in Afghanistan.

He also called on Canadians like you to make your voice heard.

Let's speak up and say clearly this Liberal-Conservative counter-insurgency war is the wrong mission for Canada.

Get the facts by reading Jack Layton's important statement today. Then show your support by making a donation to Canada's NDP.

Your generous contribution of $100 or more will give us the resources to continue to stand up to Stephen Harper - in Parliament and in the media. The NDP is the only Party that's opposing this wrong-headed combat mission - we need to be heard. We are the effective opposition. Please act right now!

This George Bush style mission is not right for Canada. Our brave soldiers are at risk for the wrong reasons. The mission is not clearly defined. There is no exit strategy. And the mission is unbalanced, with too much emphasis on counter-insurgency, and too little on peacekeeping, humanitarian aid and reconstruction.

Let's stop selling out our proud tradition as a peacekeeping nation. Act now. Support Canadian troops by allowing us to ask the tough questions that will bring them home.

    Sincerely,
Éric Hébert - Federal Secretary, Canada's NDP

P.S. Only the NDP's standing up for you. The Liberals are in hiding over Afghanistan. You can't blame them - they're the ones who got us into this combat mission. But this means that Canadians need a strong NDP to oppose Harper's militarism. Donate today, and get your voice heard.
