Given Canada's military feebleness, growing pacifism and its economic and cultural dependence on the U.S., not to mention general irrelevance, why should it hope to have any kind of "special relationship" with the republic to the south? That sort of privilege is reserved for Britain, Australia and other countries with the vision to see the dangers in the world and the balls to do something about it.

And why do you suppose "there are dangers in the world?" Do you believe the fantasy that "they hate us because we are democratic" (sic) or might it have something to do with policies that are arrogant, one-sided and imperialistic?

re: "the UN has suffered greatly from Bush's arrogance"

Wrong. The UN has suffered greatly from rampant corruption and piss-poor leadership who pander to leftists in the media.

The UN will offer no solution to trouble in Iraq because they can't think of one that works to their advantage beyond re-installing Saddam Hussein and sanctions so they could make the big money again.

Any other government in Iraq is going to embarrass the UN because they will be looking into Saddam's 'Oil for Palaces' program that made UN officials very rich from Iraqi oil while the Iraqi people suffered.

Bush's arrogance? Arrogance appears to be coming from people who claim to be morally superior than President Bush. Especially since so few of them demonstrate or do anything that would indicate they are in any way morally superior.

You know what I can't figure out? Why blatant anti-Canadians show up at pro-Canadian web-sites.

    a NON,

I caught a short piece of an interview on Charlie Rose. It was an elderly USAmerican man that is part of the investigation into the Food for Oil program rip offs. He has been trying to gather the evidence he needs from these countries that were involved. France, Russia, China, and guess who else? Can't? The USA! Guess which one has cooperated so far? France only.

Wait a minute. This article isn't even about Canada, it's about Britain and it was written 7 months ago. But anyway, so much for the "special relationship" perks that Blair got for being Bush's lapdog.

What else can be expected from a country that flew airplanes into the World Trade towers and the Pentagon and then tried to blame it on terrorists? I, for one, am not the least surprised.

In what way is that post anti-Canadian? Canadians may self-identify with something in that post, but it cannot be considered anti-Canadian.

"What else can be expected from a country that flew airplanes into the World Trade towers and the Pentagon and then tried to blame it on terrorists?"

Oh give me a break. Which makes more sense, islamic extremists carrying out terrorist attacks against the United States or the United States attacking itself?

But logic and 'common sense' mean nothing to extremists like yourself, so I'm probably wasting my breath.

As I have said before bush is a small man with a small mind;and born with a silver spoon in his mouth or in other words a spoiled brat and use to getting his own way,and that is a very dangerous combination especially when this person is the president of one of the most powerful countries in the world;or in other words like leting a five year old child play with explosives,he also is an a fear mungerer who will make up lies to make you fear other people if you dont see things his way;way do you think he fired Colin Powell and hired Condaleza Rice;because she will do as shes told. When I listend to the news this morning and how arrogent he was I thought"oh oh we are in a lot of trouble unless somebody stops this madman"whom I predicted when he was elected;would start the 3World War,god help us all from this evil idiot.

What do mean "we'll" be in trouble? Canada will be as ignored in war as in peace.

The responses to that article were not what I expected. I figured the responses would have at least commented on the article's content, but it seems that the responses were more personal attacks with emotions uncontroled.

If there is one thing you can take from that article, take Robert S. McNamara words when he say's "The U.S has no friends, only allies".

But to rephrase that the American people do have friends around the world. Their government doesn't have friends, only allies.

The American government is full of...Americans ! Americans elect their government officials. Americans support their government and their officials. Americans have chosen Fox News as their top information channel. Americans fight their wars with American soldiers. <p> Do not separate American citizens' responsibility from their government's imperial agenda and destructive actions so quickly. Ask any average American and they will wholeheartedly agree that they have a RIGHT to the world and in that belief lies the secret of Bush's own arrogance. He's just another average, ignorant and arrogant Joe Blow who just happens to have made it to the top. Bush is an excellent representative of his American base.
