I can understand the UPS position and all other couriers as well. Their competitor is supported by tax dollars. It's not like UPS had set up to compete with Express Post and Priority Courier. Canada Post got in on the action to make money as well. They are the late entry's to an already largely serviced niche.

The problem with NAFTA though, is that the reverse is not true. Canada Post cannot sue UPS in the US for the same reason. Nor can any Canadian business. And US military contractors must be treated equal to Canadian contractors, by the Canadian military - except Canadian contractors will not be considered the same as US contractors by the US Military . . . .and the list goes on . . .

"Canada Post cannot sue UPS in the US for the same reason."

Simply because UPS is not supported by the US government through the postal system. The rest you say is true. Canadians cannot do business in the US and welcomes American business into Canada. Who's fault is it? Canada caters to those who can do them absolutely no good and consequently attracts them.

And if wasn't supported by tax-dollars all the remote parts of Canada would be cut off from postal delivery and/or the price would be far too high to use.

this is a case of tax-dollars well spent. UPS and the other blood-suckers don't care about remote communities, they only wanted the profitable routes and nothing more.

But like previous NAFTA victories look for the American government to now get involved and for our sellouts in Ottawa to cave in.

"And if wasn't supported by tax-dollars all the remote parts of Canada would be cut off from postal delivery"

We are not talking postal delivery here. The courier service is private and supposedly quicker then post and more expensive. The two are not the same. Rural areas do get service from courier's as well. UPS in my local, uses another courier to deliver for them. The fact that Canada Post owns a courier, doesn't make that courier any more efficient. Express Post and Priority Courier are not an extension of your mail service.

"Don't you just love that U.S.A. level playing field"

As much as I love the way Canadians let them. The "level playing field" is negotiated by both sides. It's time Canadians stood up to the Americans instead of playing the role of a gullible wimp. Canadian negotiators are the biggest problem. Are they stupid or patsies? Why hold the Americans in contempt for what Canadians don't do.
