I'm sad cause if you believe there has been no positive feedback about Jack Layton, then that means you don't read my post )-:
Kevin
Then I spoke to Mel Hurtig and he reassured me that Jack was just really swamped with the current situation. I revisited the issue in my mind, assessed what he is doing, fighting the liberals, fighting for our rights and standing up for things I believe in, hence I forgive him. I would rather have him doing something than writing me a pile of b.s. as most politicians do...so I will watch and will probably vote NDP, as I believe they are our only hope this election! But I will hold them accountable also, I will keep writing emails, especially on the NAFTA deal, but I agree that maybe he isn't pressing his position there, because the corporation will attack him ceaselessly.
So there I really believe and hope in Layton!
The weakness I find in the NDP is that they don't seem to give a good economic plan like we seen with Paul Hellyer and the Canadian Action Party.
The NDP does need to give a better economic plan. Allot of their support are people who are concerned with social issues. But if they are to get more support then expected, they will need to also attract people who are also concerned about economics.
Kevin
You will most likely know where in Paul Hellyer's books he has allot of plans on how Corporations and government relations would be like. Paul's ideas of how to deal with corporations to me makes sense. The NDP only showing anti-corporation isn't good. The NDP needs a plan for these corporations if they were to be leader.
Kevin
Remember, Paul Martin inherited a party in the lead just a few months ago. Stephen Harper inherited the official opposition's new-found wide support just a few weeks ago. And Jack Layton hasn't really had that much time to get ready for the election either. All parties are making a desperate attempt to win support this election because they all know that there's lots of room to grow.
Jack Layton's the only one of those three leaders whose policies reflect my views. And I believe that after this election he'll talk to Paul Hellyer about an economic plan and he'll talk to CAP about joining forces. I say look at all the parties and how much your vote for any party would improve Canada. Then vote with your conscience.
Layton's the closest of the mainstream leaders to what I believe and he has room and a very compatible slate of policies to adopt a solid economic plan. I say give the man the benefit of the doubt, send him some letters, and if he doesn't deliver on the economic plan after this election, cut up your NDP cards and look elsewhere.
Right now the NDP is the only party out there that I can honestly say instills me with a feeling of hope. While CAP's economic plan is strong, it doesn't really go in depth on how to spend the money once they have it. Vast generalisations are made and they haven't shown the innovative ideas outside of fiscal policy that the NDP has. These two parties are practically made to join together.
