Well it's about time. How can we even CLAIM to be a democracy if big corporations aren't able to bribe our government with party donations?

Well this is a bit of surprise being that I sat directly across from the Liberal representitives just last week with Kingsley to discuss the last election and the current changes to the electoral system. At that time they expressed no willingness to turn back the clock. Actually they supported the small parties in their charge that we need to go further with the reforms.

The liberals agreed that the 2% clause is not in the best interest of our democracy and should be removed so that the small parties may also benefit. That also extended to C-3 and its requirement for 250 sigs or be deregistered.

I hope this is just symptomatic of the Martin government which is running around like a headless chicken, ideas popping up out of nowhere, with no real policy direction. Hopefully this will end up like Martin's mooted reform to Supreme Court appointments--quickly backed away from.

    Don't forget the pay raise.

More than all of that, there is about to be another court challenge instigated by the small parties. We already had the 50 candidates hurdle knocked over, saw campaign finance reform and the possibility on the horizon for electoral reform.

We know where we need to go, and it does not include going back to a system where the rich run the system, with the intention of making a three party state - two outside of Quebec.
