Indymedia Servers Returned By FBI

Who these authorities are remains as open a question as what they wanted to see, but given the convoluted nature of the seizure process (the FBI apparently acting under a US-UK treaty on behalf of Switzerland and/or Italy to seize hardware in London), the British Home Office must surely have been presented with at least a flimsy pretext for its approval of the operation.

There is some speculation as to why the servers were taken to begin with. Some cite FBI sources as saying that pictures were taken of Swiss and Italian undercover police (who were taking pictures of protesters at the presidential convention in New York). If Rackspace (the hosting company) were issued a warrant by the FBI under the P.A.T.R.I.O.T act, then that act also stipulates that Rackspace may not discuss it, or even acknowlege the warrants to the public. Rackspace is an American company, so their assets in other countries are subject to these warrants.<p> To anyone still wishy-washy on whether American companies should do Canadian census, or medical testing <b>wake up.</b> Here is a clear example of why we should not allow this.<p><p>---<br>"If you must kill a man, it costs you nothing to be polite about it." The article indicates whole lot of different groups are coming together to look into this thing, including mainstream journalists and a sitting British MP. This bodes well for the future.

I don't want to start any conspiracy theories or anything, but I can't get the Indymedia link to work. I've tried three times today.

The media take over and media black outs to activists and other intellectual groups is indeed a reality. Just look what happened when the Roman Catholic Church took over in around 400--450ce. The first thing they did was to sack the pagan Greek literature, philosophy, etc., and the light of intelligence, learning, freedom, and democracy went out in the world, and the world entered a very dark, dark age from which it has never fully recovered. How long did it take? Just a couple of generations!!

The only news worth reading is on the Internet. And so far, they can't control that. Which, as we have had personal evidence, doesn't mean that they won't try.
