June 27 Likely Date For Next Canadian Federal Election

Hasn't the NDP said that they <em>will not</em> support such a motion?

The conservatives and bloc plus the independents can force an election. With Paul Martin's arrogance it will probably tempt the NDP to join with the opposition and cause an election.

I am ready for an election!!

I want an NDP majority government! The other two national parties have filled their pockets these last 137 years. Now it's time to share the wealth.

Rick, I agree! I seriously hope they can get into power only in my opinion if more gomery inquiry comes out and the Liberal vote simply moves to the left!

The NDP has no chance if it runs the same kind of campaign....I pray for another Liberal minority so we can get new Liberal and Conservative leaders.

If we end up with a new majority ndp gov, I can certainly bet that we'll also get new leaders for the cons and libs! That would be fantastic! New blood all the way around, new ideas, and maybe politicians won't be so smug and think they can do whatever they want with our money, our country and our future! Talk about anticipation!

the odds of an NDP majority are not great...NDP gets little in Alberta, nothing in Quebec.

Quebecers and their huge international corporations would love the NDP to win. It is in their best interest if their own elite families aren't going to continue to rule Canada. A weak, ineffectual government that doesn't know what it is for (only what it is against),and especially if that government could be a minority one at that, in all honesty guarantees that the French-Quebec "power elite" can continue to control, manipulate, and influence the federal government and the rest of Canada for it's own benefit. Behind the scenes (so they won't get caught in the public spotlight with their hands in the cookie jar again)using a needy "wannabe" leader (like a Jack Layton for example), rather than doing "business" right out in the open in front of God and everybody as WAS the case. It appears as if those days may be past...time for more discretion, deception, and far less "haughty" arrogance and bravado. Discretion is going to be the new catch phrase...they've now discovered they are vulnerable so they'll fade into the background and control quietly...they can accomplish this with the NDP, but not those stubborn a**hole Conservatives. They used to march to the bank with a big brass band in tow, but now they'll tip toe in their stocking feet. So you know what that means don't you? We can't be so complacent next time as "we the sheeple" are being sheared. We need to be more vigilant...and a little more "baaa...baaaa...baadass" . We shouldn't continue starring in our very own mini-series, "Silence of The Lambs"...forever, should we?

Based on what we`ve seen from Mr.Sweatship, a liberal minority is not a bonus. Though I still think the Canadian Action Party has the best platform, I`d take an NDP majority over a conservative or liberal minority right now! Calling Mr.Layton, we need to scrap NAFTA and expand public health care as stated in the Romanow Report!!! Are you up for it, Jack?

I'd like to see that too Dave, but I think before anyone can publicly say scrap NAFTA, they will have to reveal what it really means, so that the people understand why it needs to go. The majority of the public think that NAFTA is our only hope of any trading. So education is a must, I also don't agree with the poster who thinks NDP will do the same only quietly. They have declared what they are for, and it seems to me that anyone is corruptible, so no matter what level of government we are talking about, we have to be awake.

I wonder if there is anyway that the Liberals can be made to pay for this next election, and I don't mean in lost seats, I mean it wouldn't be necessary if the corruption wasn't so rampant. Instead of it costing the taxpayers, isn't there a way to make the crooks pay?? Just a thought.

I like your thinking on the payment issue ...they should have to pay for creating all the extra unnecessary expense to taxpayers arising from their own dishonesty. Part of the Briberal Party "paying back" as Martin was saying in his "speech" if they were found to have profited...I'll be six feet under first, however before THAT happens I'm afraid.

I just saw Jack Layton on CBC newsworld, and I must say, although I always thought he should be more assertive, even aggressive, I realized I was transferring my feelings of desperation. After reflecting on what I've seen the last few days, the PM appears desperate, apologetic, almost pleading as a child about to loose his toys, and Harper is like a wolf, waiting to jump on his prey. Although I don't appreciate what the Liberals have done, Harper looks to me, to be taking advantage of this to its full extend, while promising nothing, as usual. He appears to be planning an election by default and no substance.

Then I watch Jack Layton, calm, cool and collected, no desperation, no apology required, no history of corruption to defend, simply a man who wants to work for Canadians on the issues that matter to the people. What a breath of fresh air! He gives me hope!

I agree with you. I personally believe there will be an election this spring. Let's hope the NDP runs a campaign getting voters to wake up and start seeing what is going on with North American intergration!!!

The NDP, with new and improved policies straight out of the 1970's! How to bankrupt a nation coming soon! Unemployment for everyone! Inflation across the board! Canadians who are asleep deserve such a 'government' controlling every aspect of their lives...
