Martin Falls Into Bush Camp On Iraq

Posted on Wednesday, May 12 at 00:35 by Roy_Whyte
Will Martin use this as an excuse to ram home national missile defence as well? Maybe further intergration with the US military? Form your own opinions, but in this Canadians mind there is now no need to vote Harper and team in if you like George Bush.

What a dunce. Look at what else he said: "The cause of terrorism is not poverty, it is hatred." Back to black and white good vs. evil. I am actually quite surprised. I would not have expected this level of stupidity from him. This man has history and law degrees. He's no dummy. Why is he dumbing things down now?

He is a sell out. He wants on the board of governors of the planet. How nice that he does not have to provide any proof of his allegations. He didn't deliver on one damn thing that Canada needed from his visit to Rome, I mean Whitewashington, but still he plays the bum boy for George I. Hooray for the lapdog party.

Yes, classic self induced fallicy. Why can't the cause be both hatred *and* poverty? Why must there be only one cause? Does everyone who hates the West have to have the same reasons?<p> <p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain <br />

Everyone, please cut back on the name-calling. This isn't kindergarten, and I assume you're all capable of making your points without calling into question people's sexuality or ancestry.

I would agree with the amazement felt by the others who left comments. Martin is no fool, yet is certainly seems to be playing one. Why is he doing this? Does he feel some kind of affinity for those who still believe Saddam had something to do with Sept 11?

As well, he seems determined to destroy the one shining moment of Chretien when he connected poverty and injustice to terrorism. By talking that down he has indeed dumbed the message down.

I also agree with Caleb on the multiple causes. No two people think exactly alike and no two factors will influence people the same way.

Black and white, good and evil, cowboys and indians, martin is doing a great job at playing a Republican.

Maybe, just maybe he is looking to steal some votes from some conservatives who like that sort of message?

In the end, this makes a good election topic with which to confront Martin. I would love to see someone press him on his comments. Canada needs a 'meet the press'.

I think there must be a hidden story behind this story; when the U.S. first decided to go to war many of us questioned the motives, many of us were suspicious of tactics, intelligence etc; much of our fears have been confirmed. Why would our government decide to back a story which has been proven to be wrong? Why now? I agree that this will probably lead to more connections with the BMD system, and more integration with the U.S. in other matters. This really is scary!

A group of friends were having a discussion about his irrational behaviour and one of them thinks he's in the early stages of alzhiemers. I personally think he's acting desperate. He's trying to be all things to all people and becoming nothing in the process.

By backing the where are the weapons now mentality I have two theories. 1.The U.S. has planted WMD in the Middle East, Iraq, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan?, somewhere and will use their discovery for political gain and Martin wants to be in on this "winning" story for his own political gain. 2.We are being "conditioned" for big time sign on to a Canadian Patriot Act, more policed state security, and acceptance of loss of our privacy which the U.S. wants and Martin will use this for his own political gain.

It's time we started demanding proof from Martin. No state secrets. Either they know where the weapons were and have legitimate proof (cartoon drawings of trucks don't count) or we are being lied to.

Have you heard of PIPEDA? I don't think a canadian patriot act is feasible.

    Anon,

You don't think a Canadian Patriot Act is feasible because of PIPEDA?

    What's Pipeda?

He's a closet NDP supporter and this is his way of handing Jack Layton campaign material.

I can understand the name calling because people are obviously angry at Martin`s facade of Mr. Niceguy hangin` with Bono, only to be another lying corporate fascist. He`s done things and given stuff away to the US (like the Lougheed Martin census) without a mandate, and continues to lie to Canada about this, as well as his supposed committment to public health care. Frankly, I wish Martin would drop dead of a heart attack! Not nice to say, but I just can`t imagine our fair country being stuck with this guy as PM!
