Russia Tests Missile Defense-Proof Weapons

Posted on Thursday, February 19 at 12:42 by Flick
If Martin and the Liberals (or, God forbid, the Conservatives) sign up for missile defense, it's just a big waste of money... a Maginot Line in Space. In case you don't know, the Maginot Line was France's solid, entrenched line of defense against Germany before World War II. It, um, didn't work, because it was too rigid and the guns only faced one way. So they were ruled by the Nazis for four years.

Also check out Geoff Berner's great Maginot Line song in MP3, or the video on CBC's Zed. Sing this while you listen to the Star Wars debate.

Note: Just when you thought A... Maginot Line Geoff Berner's great Ma... CBC's Zed

These races are going to go nuts, not just Russia but all other nations that are afraid of takeover! This increased security is sure working well, eh!

You can thank the US military and administration for this.

I say that Bush is a warmonger, and his policies will bring missiles over our air space.

Why do you think he wants Canada to go along with NMD ??

    Remember the BOMARC !!

We should say NO Way !!

I don\'t think the Nazis even bothered with going up against the Maginot Line, they went through Holland & Belgium instead.

This is a great time to lie about weapons you do or don\'t have. Now that the U.S. has lost all credibility by lying to go to war on Iraq (and likely Afghanistan as well), the rest of the world is going to never believe the accusations they make towards so called enemies and perceived threats. In this way they have only succeeded in making the world even more dangerous for everyone.

The USA needs a rival or two anyway. On a more positive note, unrelated to the topic, I have been watching Hockey Day in Canada all day today, with the Leafs- Habs on right now. (2-0 leafs in the 1st). What a tribute to Canada, the northern people! They go all across the country talking to Canadians, with Ron Maclean headquartered for the evening in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. (Oops. Leafs just scored. now 3-0)

Yes, Dave, with the emerging military powers of Russia and China, and the economic powers of Japan, Germany and China, the U.S.\'s grip on the world is precarious, and I am HAPPY about it. It\'s all in their own heads, mostly.

The good thing is, as long as we hold up a little while longer, the elites won\'t have another empire to latch on to. Who are they going to suck up to next? China?!

I\'m cynical about hockey day in Canada. The NHL sold out ot the Americans a long time ago--over 80 years ago now.

The sad thing about hockey in Canada, is that the majority of our teams are now American owned, and the U.S. tv. doesn\'t even broadcast most of the games...the young people who wish to play hockey must have rich parents, and the tickets for Canadians to go to a game are out of reach for most...they\'ve turned the national sport into a media and marketing event!!

I watched a documentary with Alexander Lebid the old head of the Soviet military. He laughs at the idea of Americas missile defence. It can only shoot down about 1% of the missiles currently armed. (at the stage they are proposing)

He also said the Soviet Union developed suitcase nukes for easy delivery. No missile defence can stop a terrorist with a nuke in a suitcase.

But hold on... it gets even better... Lebid admits Russia cannot account for all the suitcase nukes they made!

There is only one way to defeat a nuclear weapon - dont build any to begin with!

Uh-oh. The Russians are coming back at us! I think they were really pissed when we trashed the USSR and now they are making a comeback!! They are going to take revenge!! Run for your lives!!!

BTW, did anyone hear about a scramjet-powered missile that Russia tested in 2000? I don\'t think they are bluffing this time, oh no. This is scary shit guys.
They are also working on a new reusable spaceship! I hope we won\'t elect Bush AGAIN, otherwise we will let the Russians get ahead of us as we did during the Soviet times. I hate Bush!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Above link is the replacement of the SR-71 Blackbird. Tested at speeds of Mach 7 and Mach 10 and rumored to hit speeds up to Mach 15. Missile defence will be based on lasers and not missiles as the cost of such a platform will be beyond even the US to maintain and they know it. They will use this as a reason to put more money into the pentagon. America answers to no one, not even sanity.

Yeah, i know our game has been bastardized by the same big money forces. I havn`t lost sight of this. But as you can tell, Hockey Day in Canada did pull at my heartstrings. Sometimes, when the story of a country is being told, and one that hits so close to home, so to speak, I temporarily bury some of the cold realities in favour of enjoying the legend.

I feel for you Dave, I just wish we could hang on to one tradition, and leave it pure and simple, instead of turning everything we love into a marketing plan! You know a brain surgeon or scientist don\'t make the kind of money they do in pro sports...I think that is a real shame, and most people never really get to see the sport played anymore, except on t.v., which is not at all the same as being there, you know freezing your butt off in an arena with a hot chocolate to warm your hands...the good ole hockey game, as Stompin\' Tom would say...
