Klein Downplays Bullying Accusation

Posted on Monday, May 10 at 13:24 by whelan costen
Laurie Blakeman had asked the premier for a receipt to show taxpayers did not foot the bill for his visit to a Nova Scotia golf club in 2002. She later accused Mr. Klein of trying to bully her.

Mr. Klein said Friday the exchange wasn't anything more than ordinary politics.

?She's a big girl. She can defend herself,? he said of Ms. Blakeman.

It was just Klein grandstanding. He has the reciept with him. Instead of producing it when asked, he started in with "Are you calling me a liar?". A couple minutes later he produced the reciept.<p> Good on Ms. Blakeman for not falling for the bait. Mr. Klein; in the future, remember the millions if not billions of dollars wasted by the feds, and just show us the frelling reciept! It's not that we don't trust your word, we don't trust the word of any politician.<p> <p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain <br />

I'm missing something here. I'm not updated on this issue. I do recall hearing on T.V where Klein refused to show the reciept. So what did the reciept prove?

He didn't refuse. He started with the "Are you calling me a liar?" line, then a couple minutes later, produced the receipt (he had it all along, he was just trying to goad her into calling him a liar). The reciept was for 18 holes of Golf at a private resort outside Halifax. The receipt proved that the $1800.00 greens fees were paid for by the Conservative Party of Alberta, not the Government of Alberta (the taxpayers). The receipt was the CPA re-imbursing the Government of Alberta for Mr. Klein expenses he charged to an Government credit card.<p> <p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain <br />

    Dr. Caleb,

You may call that grandstanding, I call that bullying. When you're "goading" someone like he was that is bullying. And the most repulsive thing about that is that whenever you have an abusive person abusing, they most always can't see that what they are doing is abusive. And he at a bullying conference and then saying not to connect the two. Well no wonder we hate politicans.

Well I am sick to death of excuses for Klein's bad behaviour and mostly for his lack of willingness to be accountable to Albertans, it is this arrogance which keeps politicians in the money and the rest of us in debt. We shouldn't need to call him anything, our money should be clearly documented, in and out, it is our money that is being spent. I don't know if it is being wasted because the pc's don't think we need to know and that is arrogance!

A while ago, Klein stomped out of a news conference with the whine " I don't need to listen to this crap". He bullies the opposition members. He justifies assassinations and oppression (Chile).

These are just the things I noticed. We see nothing of his behaviour when he is with his friends and his bodyguards, although things do leak out and, frankly, it's scary.

I saw the receipt. It only had Peter Elzinga's name on it, and the amount. The rest was very vague
