So Anon, are you Paul Harris, or do you just look like Paul Harris? ;)

...and for some reason, on the voter registration forms, you have to identify who you will be voting for . . .no abuse possible there ethier!

To be fair, some democrats supporters have also been caught doing the same with republican voter registrations. Though, not nearly on the same scale...

I`ve read that this type of thing is happening in many states. Here`s to the land of the free...

Is it necessary to put who you're voting for? Can't be! That's easy enough to lie about anyway. Or are they taking your fingerprints at both ends now? Or is that chip invisibly inserted into you as you speak to the enumerator?

Who else feels like they're watching the most ludicrous movie as we observe our own lives and the world right now? Man I just keep expecting (hoping) that at any moment all the players will take a bow and I'll be free to laugh hysterically. As long as these players keep acting "normal", and I'm not "normal" then, I'm forced into the part of Abby Normal. (my head hurts and my ear's bleeding)

Ya, this morning on "Politics",I think it was Henry Champ in Washington that said the 2004 election day is going to make 2000 look like a church picnic or was it a tea party?

Apparently there are lawyers being hired to be on hand at thousands of polling stations to make sure people are not being turned away for wrong reasons. Most likely Republican lawyers.

In some states you don't have to tell them which party you are a MEMBER of, not who you are voting for.

Crazy about the private voter data though.

It's junk that this that makes me glad I live in Canada. When I voted last election, all I had to do was show my proof of address with phone bills, and personal id which was my passport, didn't even have to sign up ahead(is that automatically done once you turn 18?), just went to the local public school. The people were nice, no questions asked.

Makes me wonder how the homeless could vote though, if it's local. Some unfortunate do have a job, but still couldn't afford enough to buy a home, or they choose to delay buying one to save up.

It's identifying traits of voters like this that allow the practice of gerrymandering in the states. They will redraw political boundaries in order to include/exclude based on race, religion, age, income, and of course, political affiliation.<p> I'm glad none of that is recorded when I fill out a voter registration card here. To me, it's an abhorrent practice.<p> <p>---<br>"If you must kill a man, it costs you nothing to be polite about it." Winston Churchill <br />

Whichever party you declare yourself to be a member of is likely who you will vote for, so this is a moot point. I'm not sure if it is an actual requirement to do so or voluntary, though. Also, this behaviour of ripping up voter registration forms was documented this week on "Now with Bill Moyers" on PBS and was being done by affiliates of both parties but mostly by Republicans. It also stated that election activities are run by each state so the rules for everything involved in it can vary from state to state. It also verified that private companies are contracted to run things such as voter registration, which in my opinion is just inviting corruption to take place.
