Detained Family Allowed Back Into Canada

Posted on Tuesday, March 13 at 13:57 by drcaleb
Kevin, clad in the regulation grey-green prisoner's jumper, had left for classes on-site at the T. Don Hutto Family Detention Center in Taylor, Texas, yesterday when he realized he'd left his photo ID behind. When he went back to get it, he was greeted with joyful news: The family's Canadian lawyer, Andrew Brouwer, had just called to say that Immigration Minister Diane Finley had promised to issue a reprieve. "I'm just so happy," Kevin told the Star in a telephone interview. "I just can't wait to be home and see my friends in Canada. I love Canada." http://www.thestar.com/News/article/191154 [Proofreader's note: this article was edited for spelling and typos on March 14, 2007]

There is good coming out of Maher Arar's experiences, once again I want to
thank him and Monia for exposing a side of Canada I would never have
    known about without them.

Yesterday I heard about a sweatshop in the US that was raided and all of the
illegal immigrant children were dispersed to different areas of the states and
in particular Texas away from their families and homes. There has been
some outrage over this too. This happened at the same time Bush was telling
Mexico he's going to do something helpful(?) about illegal immigrants, but he
still can't say a wall will not be erected between the two countries.

Also, on Jim Lehrer (PBS), I heard a Mexican offical say that the Mexian
government is not happy with the USAmerican security requirements. He was
making statements much like you hear in Canada, in that they are way too
    excessive.

Yeah that Mexian government is really concerned that the U.S.may stop taking its excess population and that the filthy rich elites that run Mexico may have to start sharing the wealth and providing jobs for their own people.

Once people start to get it in the brains, and I hold out no hope for that, they will realize the problem resided not in any specific country, per se, but within the international banking community it will be at that point real adjustment can begin.
