What's making Harper's life miserable is that Afghanistan is best explained by interests, Darfur by values. While both are important, one nurses cynicism as effectively as the other stirs the milk of human kindness. Stripped of other significant qualifiers, Canadians are in Afghanistan to please Uncle Sam.
