One reason for this "takeover" would be Canada's energy resources (oil and gas). I think this the real reason behind it all, particulalry with the soon to be expected pullout from Iraq and Afghanistan.

The great passport debate was featured in a recent Freeholder editorial and in other newspapers across the country.

On the one hand, we are being programmed by the White House propaganda machine to accept passports as a necessary step in Canada/US border security. U. S. Ambassador and White House cheerleader David Wilkins doesn’t try to explain the policies he is told to announce. We are simply told to get ready for 2008 by getting a passport. Never mind mentioning that thousands of Mexicans are streaming across the southern border each week, mostly illegally. I guess they don't travel with passports.

On the other hand, the premiers from Ontario, Manitoba and New Brunswick will be making a presentation in Washington to promote the use of driving licences with enhanced security capability instead of passports.

The Americans themselves are waffling on the passport issue. Homeland Security Secretary Chertoff has indicated that he is open to options such as driving licences instead of the passport requirement. They are conducting a pilot project in the state of Washington using licenses.

To understand fully what is happening at this juncture, we need to look at the big picture that our governments have in store for us.

You will remember the attention that the media gave to the meeting of the “Three Amigos” in March 2005 with Bush, Harper and Fox rubbing elbows. At the time the media was silent on the details of that meeting. Maude Barlow and a few others have shown that “deep integration” between Canada, Mexico and Canada is being carried out secretly. You have to search for the details.

The Council of Foreign Relations has recently published a document entitled ‘Building a North American Community,’ which is the blueprint for the merging of Canada, United States and Canada into one superstate/trading bloc. The CFR document calls for a common security border perimeter around North America by 2010, along with free movement of people, commerce and capital! One of Canada’s ‘leaders’ who has been involved from the beginning in this charade is none other than John P. Manley, former deputy Prime Minister and current co-chair of the Security, Peace and Prosperity (SPP) trilateral committee.

In just a few years, passports won’t be required for travel between Canada, United States and Mexico at all. The newly created North American Union will become the single, biggest political event since WW2 in North America and will cause drastic changes in our lives. All of a sudden our borders will be open and ‘safe’ again, just as they are when you travel in Europe from one country to another. No wonder our politicians and our newspapers aren’t talking about it.

The whole issue is a big smokescreen.

The whole idea of making traveling difficult and restrictive is to get the people to accept a common passport that allows a traveler to move between boarders more freely. What they want us to accept, is in effect a union citizenship card (a national id card will do the job). I think we'll get our union, but it won't be called a union. The integration of NA into one country (controlled by the USA of course) is steaming along at full speed without the people being told that that's what's being done, and most certainly no one is being asked if they want to be assimilated or not.

    What freedom, what democracy?

What is going on, has nothing to do with whatever illegitimate government is in power - they are all on the same team, playing the public for the fools that they are.

No wonder the people in power have been so worried about "security", "gun control", and "terrorism" - it's a rebellious population that they fear. My guess is that they are starting to laugh with relief that we're taking the abuse without any fight at all.

Meanwhile we have the B52s over our heads, once again, all the time. They were hardly seen for a few weeks, but now we can hear them day and night, practicing for some mass murder missions somewhere.

The world is going completely nuts, no matter where you look.

What have you got in a 7.62 NATO? Nothing is too good for my M82 Parker Hale.

"The treasonous behaviour of the criminals who have taken over our government is appalling."

    Not so booboo!
the behaviour that is appalling is that of those who do nothing about it.

but of course i will have no agreement on this point
