"This is one of the last places in the world where we have natural, thriving ecosystems that depend on wild salmon, and unbeknownst to most Canadians, we're trading it off right now for these fish farms," said Martin Krkosek, a PhD student at the University of Alberta's Centre for Mathematical Biology. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/LAC.20061003.BCFISH03/TPStory/National

There were several universities involved in the research, finally doing some useful work, and the "business friendly" BCLib government immediately shot down the report as "just another scientific study", claiming they have proofs against it.

After all, they can't say, or do, anything against "wealth creating foreign investment" in this case mostly Norwegian.

Good thing we don't eat fish. My wife is highly allergic and I can't stand the smell of the things.

Most people on the coast only eat "fresh" fish and that's how it's labeled at the stores. BC Fisheries has defended fish farms by indicating the same practice goes on on the East coast. It has been asked "why Alantic Salmon" and the responce is "because it was being done before trying fish farms on the west coast". It is poor science to bring a foreign species to the enviroment, simply because the expertise came from elsewhere. Fish farms have become huge business and that's all Campbell is interested in.
