Guess What? War Is Hell.

Was no one listening when Chief of Defence Staff Rick Hillier warned us our troops would be hunting down "murderers and scumbags" who would be firing back and that our soldiers would be killed? And since, in fact, more than 100 Canadians have died in "peacekeeping" operations since 1956, would somebody please tell the cut-and-run crowd led by federal NDP Leader Jack Layton that "peacekeeping" was never without risk, contrary to the myths that politicians like him have spun over the years?" http://torontosun.com/News/Columnists/Goldstein_Lorrie/2006/09/06/1806205.html

Just What the Hell does Lorrie Know about War?

Ah Yes. Lorrie GOLDSTEIN, OP-ED and Page Editor for the Toronto SUN, who uses his considerable power and influence to regularly cover the pages of his rag with his own right-wing pro-Israeli pro-George Bush opinions, which are then frequently re-posted by Canadian Israeli websites.

One wonders, if he really HATES the left-wing liberal media SO much, a media, he claims, never supports his beloved Israel, never supports the troops, and is clearly in secret cahoots with Osama, WHY O WHY Lorrie, do you keep your job and work with them? Perhaps because you have such POWER and CONTROL over what appears in the Toronto SUN?

Perhaps this is just his lot in life, I suppose. To stand guard over the news at the Sun.

I just wasted an hour of my life reading some of his columns. Most of them are best described as 'schoolyard acting', where he plays the part in some infantile play that tries to belittle and simplify some important point being made. I would have taken him for a junior two-bit cub reporter brought in for comic relief, until I researched his position.

He's in Jack's riding, too. I wonder if they have ever gone out for beers?

"It means deciding -- before we put our soldiers in harm's way -- whether we have the stomach for it. Because if we don't, we should never have sent them in the first place."

The dude is a hack writer concerned only with circulation
in order to grab the ad dollars.

Yup agreed, a hack. So that's what it looks like when a troll get's a column. "Shame on us, cause they told us soldiers would get slaughtered and now they are and we don't have the stomach for it. We got no one to blame but ourselves cause they TOLD us how it was going to be". Takes you right back to schoolyard doesn't it.

Among many other things (as is being pionted out in this thread) Lorrie GOLDSTEIN (who is obviously biased towards Zionist/Bushism interests as was previously pointed out), is intentionally lying to his readers by use of the word "peacekeeping". <br><br> Does anyone see any blue helmets? <strong>There is absolutely no UN peacekeeping mission underway in Afghanistan</strong>. <br><br> There is instead a failing US led war of aggression going on in Afghanistan, using NATO as the Empire's <i>cohortes alariae</i>. Perhaps Goldstein places double-quotes around "peacekeeping" because he knows that he is a lying SOB.

NATO, formed to fight the Soviet Empire on the green fields of Germany, is now finally going to battle for the first time in it's existence, and finding the fighting rather tough. Like some second string football team kept on the sidelines until the end of the season, and finally given their chance to show their stuff. Now they are bleating for 2,000 more troops for the 'Mountainous Meat Grinder' that is Afghanistan, has always been Afghanistan.

Afghanistan is a glaring signpost to the statement that,

    Mankind:
    learns NOTHING
    ignores HISTORY
    does not deserve sentience.

You got it. Perhaps there's an intentional reason why our schools do such a poor job in teaching us about history. Instead, we learn all this fluffy and utterly worthless historical nonsense. When war is discussed, our kids should see graphic images showing what war really is like, instead of that heroic clean room propaganda mind junk.

Anyone who says we're being cowards for suggesting that we "cut and run" should sign up for duty in Afghanistan or shut the hell up.

For the few who have signed up, there is no shame in admitting that you were lied to too and fooled by those lies. Right after 9/11 a lot of people were fooled, myself included. I see no shame in admitting that much, however there is shame in keeping the lie alive and doing much worse such as killing innocent people because of that lie.

If we really wanted to help the Afghan people, we would definitely not be killing them and trying to impose our way of life on them through armed force.
