Freedom Of Speech In Canada. Object And You WILL Go To Jail

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2007/03/05/bc-krawczyk.html No one seemed to take Ms. Krawczyk's imprisonment harder than Rona Reimer, a 10-year-old schoolgirl who, with her father's permission, took the day off to attend court. "She's been like a grandmother to me," Rona said, her blue eyes crying in the rain. "I mean, she's 78 years old. It's terrible what they've done." When someone handed her a picture of Ms. Krawczyk, Rona stood by herself, looking at it and sobbing deeply. http://tinyurl.com/yth9wx

What a horrible story. Some people get lighter sentences for murder, yet this woman is standing up for our environment. What a pathetic group of people who rule over the court system! <br><br> Look at what these liars tell us: <blockquote> Attorney-General Wally Oppal agreed that contempt-of-court cases are hard for judges "because they often involve ordinary people concerned about valid issues . . . but no one is above the law, no matter what the circumstances." </blockquote> Valid issue or not, you go to jail no matter what the circumstances??? What is this man smoking! We know that the criminals in power make up these "laws" for their own benefit and that's how they get away with their crimes - simply by making their crimes legal and the actions to stop their criminal behavior illegal. <br><br> No one should respect corrupt laws or the people who make them up and enforce them.

It is about bloody time that people insisted that Civil Disobedience was treated differently than common crimes. In the first place people do not commit CV unless there is some contentious issue at hand, and as you all know, such issues are a case of "it takes two to tango." The other side of the issue, the people causing the problem in the first place, should also be taken to task as well. If they still want to use injunctions, they should bind both sides in the dispute not just one side. The protestors agree to stop CV and the group causing the problem cease their activity as well. Then a citizens group picked by both sides could come up with a binding solution. If these sort of changes are not made we are living under a situation of legal thuggery.

ha ha ha. Your solution sounds too much like democracy, equality and justice.

That's not where we are living. Big business would grind to a halt if every project was allowed to be stopped by the public due to any concerns over the environment. Capitalism and Big Business require fascism in order to function properly.

""Attorney-General Wally Oppal agreed that contempt-of-court cases are hard for judges "because they often involve ordinary people concerned about valid issues . . . but no one is above the law, no matter what the circumstances.""

    Dear Mr AG

Tell that to Campbell, Basi, Basi, Virk, and the rest of that band of thieves in the BC Liberals inner circle.

Oops, sorry, please don't jail me for for speaking about something you know jack shit about... the TRUTH.

Yeah...really nice job you and yours did there, putting a 78 year old woman in jail for daring to oppose your beloved Gordon Campbell's 2010 fascist free for all.

    You want contempt?

I have your contempt right here, come get some.

I sent this to the BC AG. I wanted to send what I sent in my previous post, but cooler heads prevailed.

    Dear Attorney General Oppal

Allowing a 78 year old woman like Betty Krawczyk to be put in jail for essentially being an embarrassment to the Premier and his 2010 ego trip is a fair greater crime than ignoring a politically motivated court order ever was, or ever will be.

Justice was not served in this conviction, and we both know it.

As for no one being "above the law", that also applies to the Premier and the caucus as well.

The law is either fairly applied to all, or it is meaningless.

    Please keep that in mind.

If a court can order anybody to stop demonstrating, it means that all forms of demonstrations against government actions are illegal. Which may be too much for the politically motivated and ideologically brainwashed AG to comprehend.

This also means, as mentioned above, that fascism has truly arrived and is protected by law.

Having grown up under fascism, my first experience with the freedom of speech happened at 21, in June 1948, at the Marble Arch of the Hyde Park corner, in London.

I didn't speak any English at the time, and couldn't figure out what the speakers were all about, until somebody translated some of their words. I was shocked, seeing the Bobbies standing there with their hands behind their backs.

So I asked why they didn't arrest the speakers, and was told
that in a democracy people are free to say anything they wanted.

Of course, I have read about democracy and thought I could understand the basics, but have never experienced it in real life before.

My instant conversion to the freedom of speech had to be one of the fastest in human history. Having been a born troublemaker, questioner and iconoclast in all my years, I found my home and became an instant defender of democracy and have never stopped since.

    Ed Deak.

    "Having grown up under fascism"

You must find it ironic and troublesome to see what is happening to our "open and free" society when formerly oppressive regimes have progressed to the point where they start to look good by comparison.

    For example:

I just submitted a story about France regulating journalism to only state approved journalists.

I also submitted a story about the blogger Charles LeBlanc who was beaten up by police, arrested under false charges, and had his personal property destroyed (digital photos) in an attempt to cover up evidence of his illegal arrest. So far, no charges have been laid against the police despite the obviousness that serious crimes were committed by the police.

    Deacon,

How did you send it? Snail Mail or email? What is the address/or email to send letters to?

    Thanks.

Oh god, it get's worse. Apparently Betty's right hand woman, a native elder named Harriet Nahanee, another Eagleridge protester, was also sentenced to jail for contempt, despite the fact that she had serious health issues and was quite elderly herself.

She has since died in hospital, as a result of contracting pneumonia in jail.

She was jailed by 'Madame' Justice Brown of the Supreme Court of BC, despite receiving letters that clearly informed her of Harriet's very serious medical condition and frailty.

'MADAME' JUSTICE BROWN IS GUILTY OF MURDER.

    Thanks, email sent.

I demanded the immediate resignation of Brenda Brown, Justice to the Supreme Court, for imprisoning and ultimately killing an elderly native woman (Harriet Nahanee) who she knew full well was very ill and would not survive detention.

This needs to hit the media, too.

I urge everyone to also share their thoughts on this with 'madame' brown and A.G. Wally Opal.

I wonder what tiny portion of the eligible vote Wally Oppal got?

It seems no one wants to talk about the low voter turnout in 2005, which overall was 57.80% of the eligible vote (one of the lowest turnouts on record). I was unable to find the stats for Vancouver-Fraserview so I assume it was very low otherwise it would have been published all over the place (other ridings had the turnout published).

Going with 47.80% of the votes that went to Wally, and assuming the overall turnout of 57.80%, that means Wally got only 27% of the eligible vote, which means that 73% of the voters did NOT support Wally (and my guess it's worse than that).

There are dictators that rule with a greater amount of public support than what Wally has.

These guys are getting "elected" in spite of themselves. The contest is all about who is not the absolute worse instead of who is the absolute best.

"Nahanee, age 71, was weak from the flu and asthma when BC Supreme Court Justice Brenda Brown ordered her to the Surrey Women’s Pre-Trial Centre in January.<br />
    <br />
Nahanee was hospitalized with pneumonia a week after her release from jail. Then doctors discovered she had lung cancer. A news release on Sunday, February 25 briefly announced Nahanee’s death from pneumonia and complications."<br />
    <br />
Nahanee was jailed for committing what crime? Brenda should be locked up with the key tossed away for this. What a sicko.<br />
