Turn The Tables On The Right-Wing

Posted on Friday, February 20 at 13:25 by Jim Callaghan
We tell our friends, those that want to vote Liberal or Conservative all the negative things to get them thinking, then spin it so we look like we are on the positive side. For instance, "SO you want US missiles on Canadian soil", or "You want the US military to run our country". "SO you want to become an American citizen within 10 years." I'm sure you can help come up with more, and the scarier the better. "So you don't mind giving up your CPP pension when it comes time to retire." "So you don't mind paying hundreds of dollars to visit the clinic or your doctor and all those tests." It has to get their attention, and grab them by the throat, or they will simply keep saying what most people always say, "They're all the same". That's the key, they are NOT all the same. We just have to find the right leader. BTW, anybody heard the latest on Alberta and Ralph Klein's idea about charging everyone a user fee to get medical attention ?? I saw it on the news last night. Get ready for it !!

    Good grief.

Do you think that Canadian political discourse will be well served by adopting
American style cynicism, rhetoric and polarizing antics? Are there no ideas
that can be sold on their merit?

I\'m not sure it\'s American style politics, it\'s just called a battle plan, it doesn\'t matter where you are doing battle there are rules, rules which if learned well will keep you alive! As in you never try to fight on more than one front, you put minimum force needed to take down the enemy in battle one, then move to next battle, you don\'t send all your troops to surround the enemy and think the battle is over, you\'ll loose. In the media sense, if you start telling people too much at once, particularly negative, they\'ll tune out. Just think about how you felt the first month or two when you awakened to the corruption in Canadian politics, its like oh man, I cannot believe this, I will not believe this...and then you slowly start to digest the picture. So if we are going to educate it must be slowly one issue at a time, and with solutions, not just attacks. Otherwise while we\'re slinging mud, they\'ll be on the other side, smiling like puppies and cooing, people like that, and will vote for the smily puppy! Balance and planing are the answer, I think.

    Yes !!!!

We have to get their attention, and the only way is to be outrageous at first, then start using the plan to move forward.

If you don\'t get their attention, you will sit on you hands waiting for them to come to you and that will never happen !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you are right Jim, but it seems strange with all the brains out there that no one seems to have any decent, \'marketing\' strategies to get a good guy elected...or is it that all of them have some skeletons and if they start stating truth, their own truth will come out!!!

I hate this entire issue, why can\'t we get some honest people elected, no skeletons,...it is possible, there are people who are honest...I know it, I even know some, but they shy away from politics, cause of the perceived corruption. Someone once told me that an honest person might get elected, but their hands will be tied once they actually try to implement some of their ideas...so they stop trying. But if they learned to use the media and get the message out, regardless, they might have a chance.

Kerry will make a good Democratic Pary contender. Kerry has no internal sense of right and wrong, he\'ll do whatever the television tells him to do, you want warm & fuzzy but bad policy then Kerry\'s the man.
