Wow, Senator Celine Hervieux-Payette is to be commended for speaking up and not being “politically correct” on this one. I too get upset with those “animal rights activists” who do not recognize that children’s, and indeed human rights must receive greater attention.

I absolutely agree with Senater Payette! It's about time someone in our country grew some balls. "Even though it's a woman". She's anti corruption, not anti American as many would think. She's got my respect.

Yes, it's so much easier to look at OTHER countries misdeeds. Ours isn't really 'slaughter', its just a 'harvest'. That plank in our own eye is really, just a contact lens, yeah. And its just 'evil animal rights' activists who complain about it. Of course americans can just say that its 'evil human rights activists' who are opposing war in Iraq. Gosh, nothing hypocritical going on here in our igloo.

It's real convienient for those who condemn the seal hunt to forget that a large portion of the seal hunter's yearly income comes from the hunt.

That's money that puts food on their table, clothes on their backs, and roofs over their heads.

Unless these holier-than-thou hypocites want to reimburse the seal hunters the difference in income for not going on the hunt, they should shut the hell up and consider the fact that their urban life is a hell of a lot easier than a seal hunters.

Bloody idiots probably think Bambi is a real deer too.

Clubing to death 300,000 baby seals, is not good in the entire world vision of Canada. American tourists are not the only ones that will boycott Canada. What happened to our society, that after all these years, this slaughter is now again acceptable? Just because it's a "Canadian thing", still don't make it right.

Maybe when people start righting cheques to all sinners, to stop their evil deeds. Doing something for money don't make it right. Fish all the fish in the ocean or kill all the wolves in Northern Alberta don't make the world a better place to live in. Killing these seals weren't right to start with and I have no sympathy for those who chose this way of making money. I had to chose a different way of making a living at the age of 53, because of the softwood dispute. I am no smarter then those hunters and they are just as capable.

eating granola is not in the picture for native hunters who eat and use these creatures for sustance in a harsh enviroment.

Then tell me how you can justify large scale clear cuts, soil erosion, destruction of habitat, selling raw logs overseas,and creating species monocultures in areas that once had many different species of trees while at the same time condemning others for harvesting seals?
