The Beyond Factory Farming Coalition believes strongly that providing tools for citizen empowerment will help to move Canada’s agricultural sector towards socially responsible livestock production, making us one step closer to achieving food sovereignty. The guide can be viewed at http://communityguide.beyondfactoryfarming.org/. Please note that hard copies and CD roms are available for those without high-speed internet connections. Yes indeed, as my "nom de plume" indicates I am a long time rural resident and it is yet to be clear that "intensive livestock" operations are in fact "factory farms" and an Industrial Operation and must be treated as such. The only reason that corporations encourage and fund a "farmer" to start this kind of operation is because if classed as a farm the environmental regulations are less stringent and not as strongly enforced. The current move to make them more stringent for the small family farm will do little to change the "corporate" operation, but much to just bury the little guy , who is and always has done his best to be a good steward of the land, under a bigger paper and financial burden.
There must be a clear definition between Industrial food production and Farming. It does not exist at present.
Thanks for that link, very usefull.

But....if we don't encourage factory "farms", however are we going to get to our goal of <b><u>15 billion</u></b> humans on this planet Earth....?<p>---<br>"When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." <br />
