PM Blasts War Critics - Says His Foes' Sniping Hurts Troops' Deeds

"Unfortunately, these soldiers did not get the attention they deserved, because their stories were eclipsed by arguments in the House of Commons over media reports based on information from Taliban prisoners," he said. GALLANTRY Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean issued a news release on April 24 announcing nine military valour decorations to CF members who displayed "gallantry and devotion to duty in combat," as well as four for meritous service and seven for mention in dispatches. No date for the decoration ceremony has been set yet, and details of the actions of recipients were not included in the release. NDP MP Dawn Black accused Harper of becoming "more and more desperate" as the controversy rages over human rights abuses of detainees in Afghanistan. Canadian soldiers take up arms for democracy, yet Harper is trying to stifle open debate, she fumed. "The Prime Minister tells us that Canadian troops are involved in Afghanistan to build democracy, to bring peace and stability to Afghanistan, and if we cannot have a democratic debate around all of the issues of this mission, what does that say about the supposed grounds for Canadians being there?" she said. Liberal Whip Karen Redman called it an "insult to Canadians" that Harper would suggest MPs not pose pertinent questions about the mission. http://www.winnipegsun.com/News/World/2007/05/12/4174031-sun.html [Proofreader's note: this article was edited for spelling and typos on May 14, 2007]

Understanding and preventing torture requires countering effectively the strategies of acceptance, accommodation, and justification.

Harvard psychiatrist Judith Herman wrote: "It is very tempting to take the side of the perpetrator. All the perpetrator asks is that the bystander do nothing. He appeals to the universal desire to see, hear, and speak no evil. The victim, on the contrary, asks the bystander to share the burden of pain. The victim demands action, engagement, and remembering."

If Canada stands for liberty, justice, freedom and human rights then Canada can not be the bystander and do nothing, to see, hear, and speak no evil.

Canada's soldiers serve Canada and Canadian's. They represent our values and standards and least of all they defend those who can not defend themselves. Sometimes that doesn’t always mean Canadian's.

If the Government had dealt with this issue completely and effectively then there would be neither debate nor questions to rise in our democracy to over shadow the good deeds that our Country's soldiers have done.

"Grit defence critic Denis Coderre said Harper is engaging troops in a "never-ending military mission" without an exit strategy."

Actually Harper does have a strategy for bringing the troops home.

It involves the use of body bags and coffins.

"If Canada stands for liberty, justice, freedom and human rights then Canada can not be the bystander and do nothing, to see, hear, and speak no evil."

So then, why is Canadian troops in a country to enforce western values? Canadians must stand up now and demand the truth. They have to require our military give back the freedoms they took from the Afghani. The Afghani government has pleaded enough times for the allied forces to stop killing the innocent and breaking into their private homes. Enough destruction and pillage has been going on in that country and it's time to stop. Too many westerners have for centuries, demanded Afghanistan fall within their guide lines. When will the realism be seen by these foreigners. The country can not be ruled by government, who cater to the west.

It's time Canada gave freedom to these people and the liberty to keep their own culture. Canada can not have a blind eye towards what they and Americans are doing. This is the evil we should hear, see and do something about.

Soldiers don't go to wars, they're sent by rulers and politicians, for their own reasons. They follow orders. Therefore, when soldiers fight and die, those who are responsible for their actions and death, are the people who sent them.

But how can we expect from a neoclassical economist, like Harper, to comprehend simple facts and elementary logic.

His nonsense reminds me of my own war experience, when we, on the nazi side, were sent to kill Russians in the name of "Freedom, Christianity and Western civilization", while they were killing us for "Freedom, democracy and the global Workers' Paradise".

Nothing has changed in human history, the liars and the suckers are still alive and well.
