Go Galloway!

"This hearing is by far the most important development in the ongoing debate over the USA' involvement in Iraq for a long time, " declared a blogger who identified himself only as Brian. "Unfortunately, I question the American public' willingness to pay attention to what was said or even react with any degree of outrage to the McCarthy-like atmosphere that Coleman and his cohorts are fostering in these hearings. " Andrew Dempster wrote: "Inviting Galloway to testify was the worst thing that the committee could have done. Galloway is a pugnacious politician with the instincts of a street fighter, and he' at his best when under enemy fire. An Open Letter to Democrats
Listen to Galloway and Learn Something

By STAN GOFF

Dear Democratic Elected Officials of the United States (with damn few exceptions),

I am writing this open letter to call your attention to the remarks made day before yesterday, May 17, 2005, to the United States Senate, by British MP George Galloway of the independent Respect Party. I do this because he serves as an example of why your party should be abandoned by the U.S. working class, by U.S. women, by oppressed nationalities in the United States, and by anyone who professes to be a progressive or a leftist.

George Galloway did that for which you have proven incapable; he spoke as an opposition. Since there seems to be a great dark space in the middle of your heads where the notion of opposition should be a void filled by parliamentary molasses and the pusillanimous inabilty to tell simple truths I suggest you all review the recordings of Galloway's confrontation with Republican Senator Norm "Twit" Coleman to see exactly how effortless it is to stand up to these cheap political bullies (watch the video). While you are at it, you can watch your colleague Carl Levin demonstrate exactly what I mean about most of you and your party, as he alternately hurls petulant cream-puff insults at Galloway and kisses Coleman's stunned, clueless ass to give that toothy dipshit some comfort in the wake of Galloway's verbal drubbing.
I think Galloway's speech was truly historic. He belongs with Wilkes, Fox and Paine in the manner that he addressed the corruption, lying and authoritarianism of the US state.

Thanks! I wondered if Galloway’s testimony would attract attention here. The Dempster quote above was spot on; minimal research by the committee members’ research staffs should have provided a hint or three as to how the MP might make use of his time on Capitol Hill.

Yes it felt historic, because he brought and spoke truth in a place that has forgotten what truth sounds like. It was a pleasure to watch him wipe the floor with those See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil fence post decorations. Ironic that he should have to demonstrate what a true hero really looks and acts like, to speak for those killed who no longer have a voice. It might have been a truly triumphant experience to witness except his highlighting just who and how many have pick up the tab for this corrupt and unjust war. I hope he has lit a spark to dispel the inertia that has prevailed for so long.
