And The Drums Of War Begin To Beat...

Bush didn't explain what he meant, but American officials in the past have indicated they will be urging the Security Council to impose sanctions on Tehran. http://www.cbc.ca/story/world/national/2006/08/31/iran-nuclear.html

    Bush repeatedly demanded the stop of building nuclear weapons but at no point has there ever been evidence that it is "weapons" that are being developed.the USA had at one time promised Iran, nuclear power facilities. This time Iran is flatly stateing that thay will no longer be talked down to nor given false promises. The question remains "who & why" is the USA being supported on their false claims. It's certainly not a loss of memory to recall the attack on Iraq as it's been proven the whole agenda was created on lies. Why in fact should the US be allowed to be a UN member. The Americans proved that they will defy the UN and pursue their own interests above all. Yet we will witness the USA attacking other countries and repeating their offences with alliance members. Nothing will be any different with Iran other then Iran and their neighbor will be able to fight back.

    North Vietnam was able to fight back, too. They shot down an alarming number of B-52's, and the city of Hanoi became infamously known as the most heavily anti-air defended city in history.

    ...but let's not kid ourselves. This is the US we are talking about. This is the biggest military empire in the history of the human race, bigger than their model, the Roman Empire.

    The US and Israel by themselves could easily pulverize Iran into the stone age. They will not risk a ground war, but will simply flatten it from the air. Easily. The US airforce is still built around the model of defeating the Soviet Union. They will swiftly crush the Iranian air force and air defense network in a couple of weeks, and then roam the country from the air at will, turning it into rubble.

    The only hope of Iran is that the Russians and the Chinese solidify an alliance and tell the US to stay out. And they may not want to risk that, because with the current US behaving like a rabid pit bull, they just might throw down the gloves and call them on it, and then we got World War III, boys and girls.

    I do not have to remind anybody that the Roman Empire fell (slowly and surely). And so will the United States of America, sooner or later (slowly and surely). How slowly?

    A lot of people have a lot of opinions about this "nuclear showdown" between the US and Iran. Most of the sensibles on the pro US side even admit that Iran has the right to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes under the NPT but no one seems to want to mention that under the NPT the US, as well as all the other nuclear powers are in contravening the NPT by not disarming. In fact the US continues to develop new nuclear weapons.

    It's almost as if ONLY the USA counts. Where is the opposition and why is the rest of the world mute on this issue? It's not like this is a secret as Iran is quick to point out. They do have the right and nothing has changed amending their pact with NPT

    My two cents worth...

    1) Iran has the right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful uses. Yes, the tech can be used for weapons, but thats a given regardless of the nation.

    2) George W Bush has absolutely no moral high ground to stand on in this matter what-so-damn-ever.

    Why?

    Two words: depleted uranium. It is a slow acting weapon of mass destruction, and the US military is throwing it around like it is as harmless as water.

    3) As if China and Russia will allow Bush to disrupt the affairs of an oil rich trading partner?

    I REALLY don't think so. If Bush thinks he can pull off the same sh*t with Iran as he tried with Iraq he is going to get an extremely rude awakening.

    Now consider that China is in the process of building a fleet of modern ballistic missile submarines, and you'll beging to see just how insane King George's plans for global domination for the US really are.

    Just who are those missiles going to be aimed at?

    Two guesses.

    Actually, the Roman Empire fell overnight, relatively speaking, after years of rotting from within. What is interesting is we do not hear a lot of talk about any kind of 'police state' that existed within Rome, keeping it's citizens from speaking out against the empire. There MUST have been Roman anti-war protestors! Can you imagine trying to accept the need to invade Great Britain, a barren and cold land thousands of miles away? Hey, your taxes are going up, we need to, uh, build this wall, all the way across a giant island, to keep the savages out, and we need more troops, to uh, stand on the wall and stop the savages from climbing it...

    Well, of course. The NNPT is fraught with contradictions and nonesense. It presupposes that an elite few, mostly white western christian nations, have the RIGHT to own nukes, but no others are, unless they get the nod (Israel).

    Unless ALL nations commit to eliminating these horrible devices completely, the NNPT is a sham, and the only intent is to keep the boys with the toys on the top of the heap, and keep them out of everyone else's hands.

    I could link this from any number of new sources, but figured this more appropriate:<br />
    <br />
    <a href="http://wpherald.com/articles/1117/1/IAEA-Iran-has-highly-enriched-uranium/Does-not-match-older-samples.html">http://wpherald.com/articles/1117/1/IAEA-Iran-has-highly-enriched-uranium/Does-not-match-older-samples.html</a><br />
    <br />
    “UNITED NATIONS -- The International Atomic Energy Agency told the U.N. Security Council its inspectors have found new traces of enriched uranium in Iran.<br />
    <br />
    The discovery marked the third instance that highly enriched uranium was found at an Iranian facility, but the IAEA said the nuclear fingerprint on the new discovery does not match that found on earlier samples, which the agency had concluded came from contaminated equipment from Pakistan, The New York Times reported Friday.”<br />
    <br />
    Re: “the USA had at one time promised Iran, nuclear power facilities. This time Iran is flatly stateing that thay will no longer be talked down to nor given false promises”<br />
    <br />
    Within the last 12 months, the Security Council offered to provide equipment and expertise for nuclear power that was 100% civilian use. No dice. They offered to enrich uranium outside Iran in order for them to use it for civilian purposes. No dice. WTF are you talking about?<br />
    <br />
    Re: “The question remains "who & why" is the USA being supported on their false claims.” <br />
    <br />
    OK, you think the world (it isn’t just the US, in case you hadn’t notice) has no credibility, but Iran does. The same Iran that continues to cover up the murder, by government agents, of a Canadian journalist. That Iran. Got it.<br />
    <br />
    Why in fact should the US be allowed to be a UN member. <br />
    <br />
    Bwahahaha! The US pays for the UN. Where the hell do you think any UN money and muscle comes from? <br />
    <br />
    The Americans proved that they will defy the UN and pursue their own interests above all. <br />
    <br />
    I think you mean Iranians. WTF does it say when the whole SC, outside of Russia and China (great, great regimes there too, BTW) disagrees with you?<br />
    <br />
    This is about Iran defying the *world*, not just BusHitler. Wake up.

    *Brilliant* foreign policy!

    Genocide, nuclear weapons, you name it! - "We DO NOT have the right, to PREACH what we think IS THE RIGHT , to ANY country."

    Let's disband the UN right f*cking now and have us a free for all! Hooray! No rules, just right! Who is ANYONE to make the rules, after all? I mean, who are the UNSC to tell anyone what to do? Screw the whole UN governing body!
    China - give'r! Russia? Give'r! Rwanda? Give'r!

    AWESOME!

    Come to think of it, why do we need laws and rules at all? Who is anyone to tell anyone not to rape, murder, or steal? Do I have to remind you that "We DO NOT have the right, to PREACH what we think IS THE RIGHT!"

    There may be some neocons who believe that 9/11 would be the ideal day to declare war. That's next Saturday.

    I notice on the September page of my calendar that 9/11 is called "Patriot Day", soon likely to be declared as a scheduled holiday like Martin Luther King Day.

    Nobody wants to know of course that the real name of the PATRIOT (capital letters) Act is (hold your breath) the "Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001".

    It has absobloominglutely nothing to do with the ideals of patriotism.

    I forgot to paste the source. Here it is:<br />

    <a href="http://www.epic.org/privacy/terrorism/hr3162.html">http://www.epic.org/privacy/terrorism/hr3162.html</a><br />
    <br />
    and note what its purpose is:<br />
    <br />
    "To deter and punish terrorist acts in the United States and around the world, to enhance law enforcement investigatory tools, and for other purposes." <br />
    <br />
    It is the "other purposes" that bothers me most.<br />
