NDP Tax Cut Bigger

Posted on Friday, June 25 at 11:11 by Milton

We know all about the NDP's 'tax heavy platform'. We know all about their 'unpopular schemes'. We'll all pay a lot less taxes under a Conservative government, right? After all, The Globe and Mail's told us so, hasn't it? Well, guess what? The sanctimonious corporate shills got it wrong. Nearly twice as many Canadian families would get a bigger tax cut under the New Democratic plan:

I must be dumb cause I don't understand these numbers. I wonder if this is a little biased. How can this Ian come up with this while no one else has and no media has every said anything about this, including the right wing CanWest.

If this was a fact what this Ian dude is saying wouldn't we have heard allot about it from opposition by now?

I think this Ian guy is playing with numbers and coming up with answers that only support his idea. Not sure if this stuff is fact.

Kevin, I assume you couldn't find the link in the article Ian wrote, here it is Center for Policy Alternatives Tax Study.
If you think the opposition is going to tell anyone that the NDP is doing a better job than they are you must be young. Ian didn't do the study and he just simplified the results so that people would understand what they were looking at without using a calculator. Ian did a good job here so don't accuse him of making stuff up.

Milton I was just voicing my view of the article. I didn't expect to offend you to the point where you felt you had to defend Ian.

I would like to thank you though. Cause now that I read some information on that link you provided I see that Ian was not being biased. The data is clear.

Its telling me that the NDP has a better tax cut plan for middle class and lower income people then the conservatives. Is that right?

The NDP want to put government into every corner and aspect of people's lives and they won't be able to do that without massive tax increases, there's no way they could deliver this kind of interference without lots of money.

It would be nice to have the specifics of what you're talking about anon person. What corners? What cost?

Just assuming you have some small clue about what you're talking about I'd still rather have government in my corner than Big Business on every corner and in my face!

It seems that you must not have read the report put out by the Center for Policy Alternatives Tax Study (link provided by Milton above). Using software from Statistics Canada to provide economic models for both parties tax policies after five years of implementation, the NDPs numbers show tax decreases for the bulk of Canadians. The cons shows just the opposite, with the bulk of tax cuts going to the wealthiest people.

Of course, the wealthiest people would complain about this, but then again since over 80% of us don't belong in this class who cares.
