Oh, good. Our politicians are under very close scrutiny these days, and for a member of the government to try to bend the rules even slightly is asking for trouble.

Yes, this person is innocent until proved guilty, but in the meantime, I think this person should step down, NOT accept any payroll, until this matter is cleared up.

There is also something fundamentally wrong with a system that will allow you to break the law and still retain your seat in the government. You broke the trust of the position you held.

If this person is found guilty, all monies paid to this person should be repaid to the government, any other use of this money is a disgrace.

As for pensions, I think a felon should lose their right to a lifetime pension. They broke the LAW !!

Jim I agree, there is another case which infuriates me, Dar Heatherington, from Lethbridge, holding public office while she has now been convicted of public mischief, the maximum penalty is 5 years, she awaits sentencing in September. She refuses to step down, saying she is convicted but not sentenced and that they may appeal etc etc. She states the people elected her and therefore she won't step down. She has so far spent how many months with this fiasco and has she been focusing on the issues her elected position requires? How can a person accept their payroll from the people when they are busy dealing with a criminal offense?

Whelan, I've been following that situation, and I agree, there is something wrong with a system that allows this to happen.

I heard her give a press conference a while ago, and she didn't seem to plead her case very effectively.

    Enough is enough.
